General Cultivation Q&A

Hi , I have just planted 16 hydro seeds in a half top soil half compost mixture in 16 separate pots. Also I only have miracle grow as a fert at the moment and potash for bloom. So my question is can I use my friends hydro light to increase growth the rate in the early stages of the cycle? As in keep them out all day in the sun then put them under the light for a period of time at night. I do realize I assume I have the seasons all wrong as we are in winter at the moment and Iam trying to grow ...... I am also buying a PH kit tomorrow and would like your opinions on the right levels. PS I am in North Queensland Reguards hoop .

Hey Guys, Well I introduced you to my experiments in water-cloning with this thread. I have continued my experimentation and have refined the process down to an easy to follow, quick procedure. People using this technique will find much faster rootings and far lower failure rates than with "normal" cloning methods such as rockwool/cloning-gel/direct-to-medium techniques. The essential concept is that the inital formation of roots in rockwool clones tends to take the longest time out of each stage of the process, wouldn't it be nice to be able to have those "micro-roots" come out almost instantaneously so your clone has approximately a 7-10 day headstart? Hey guys is it possible to flower outdoors during spring, or are the days starting to get too long? I dont want to have to wait and have plants outdoors til april/may next year. Does anyone have any ideas on how i can force outdoor flowering late in spring? ie: moving plants to complete darkness early in the afternoon? Sorry if these are silly questions, but I have no experience with plants outdoors. Any help or ideas would be welcomed Thanks in advance!!!

hi guys i just have a quick question about ec and ph meters i notices to buy these in shops is roughly about $100- $160 after a quick search on ebay i found you can get digital ph meters for 40- 80 dollars has anyone bought one of these meters and if so, are the cheap ones good enough quailty to last and do the job? cheers guys for any help

just after a little advice...i'm currently using clear plastic tubs in my hydro cupboard, and I was advised that the clear tubs may let the root system be exposed to too much light. I'm using a 400 and perlite with two clear tubs....can anyone offer me any insight as to whether this is going to adversely affect my plants? thanks.

I'm going to be using compact fluorescent lights for the entire thing. Yes.. I know.. I know... I SHOULD get a HPS light so i can penetrate the bud and blah. It's gonna be light an airy yehh. okay, also, now don't shoot me... I'm not gonna be really having any ventilation either.. The most I could do is put a fan inside of it and leave afew openings to let air pass through. Thing is I have never grown before (and only ever smoked once) and I am on an extremely tight budget. Hi people ... newbie here (I have had some experience in hydro a while ago) I have read an awful lot of topics about aeroponics here and on other sites. (it's taken me 2 weeks to read up ) I still have a couple of questions so far, and maybe more later on 1. Are the sprayers run on 30 sec on and 3 minutes off, or 1 minute on and 5 minutes off.. I have seen both .. is there a difference? 2. Once the plant is switched to 12/12 for flowering, do you leave the sprayer cycle on the same as above, or turn them off for the dark period .. or something else ?? 3. Hey guys, I have successfully established my 3 pot, 6 plant top feed hydro set up. Originally running just a 400w digital, I have now added a 600w and in a larger room. (Had space problems originally) I have a 50L nute tank, and have been using all the Canna products. Zyme/Rhizo/PK 13-14/Boost Including AB Flores and Vega. Im also using Budlink (Liquid silica), and some Bud Blood. The first time I used Boost, I could not tell if it worked properly, because my girls ran out of room and could not flower properly. Ok so ive been reading about this scrog method and iam keen to have a go at it. Have read varying data on the height placement of the screen from 200mm to 500mm. Is there a specific height for the screen ? what height do you use ? Room size 1m x 1.9 x 1.7high, if that matters in the equation. cheers
