A four-month-old baby boy has been removed from a home in Sydney's south-west during a drug raid by police. Detectives from the South-East Asian Crime Squad say they have charged a couple after discovering a sophisticated cannabis set-up in the home at south Liverpool. Police seized 90 plants and 40 bags of leaf with a potential street value of more than $300,000, as well as hydroponic equipment. Police spokeswoman Sue Thompson says two people will appear in court later today on various charges. "A 24-year-old woman and a 31-year-old man were arrested at the house and taken to Liverpool police station for questioning," she said. "Also a four-month-old baby boy …

Most people do not realize that the prohibition of Cannabis comes forth from the ethnic cleansing that started with the inquisition. The reason for this is that Cannabis was (and still is) a religious sacrament for most (ancient) cultures who were Shamanistic by nature and did not want to confirm to Christianity and according to the Bible those cultures had to be wiped out and their altars and scriptures had to be burned. During the Inquisition cannabis was declared Illegal by pope Innocenty (I believe number IV) and anyone who practised the 'old ways' was murdered. For centuries the western European world was ruled by (Christian) Rome and during those times history h…

Squirrels on crack Oct 7 2005 South London Press NATURE lovers fear that squirrels could become hooked on crack cocaine plundered from addicts' hidden stashes. The furry animals are thought to be behind a new drugs turf war in Brixton - stealing rocks of crack hidden in front gardens. Tough police action to rid the town centre of dealers and addicts has seen crackheads abandon their usual drug stash hideouts. But the blitz has displaced some dealing into nearby residential streets. Drug addicts are known to be hiding small stashes of crack rocks in people's front lawns late at night. Squirrels have been spotted in the same front gardens, seemingly hunting out the…

One in 50 Victorian drivers tested positive for drug use, according to police, five times the rate of motorists found to be driving drunk. Victoria Police announced that 10,546 drivers had been tested for drug use since new roadside testing was rolled out in December last year. Acting Deputy Commissioner Noel Ashby said 213 drivers had revealed signs of recent methamphetamine or cannabis use, and the high rate of drugged-driving rate was a concern. The rate of motorists caught out by breath tests for alcohol is one in every 250 drivers in Victoria. "Not only is using illicit drugs illegal, but those who use drugs and then get behind the wheel are a real danger…

CRIMINALS are growing 5000ha of marijuana in Australia every year, an area the size of 689 Melbourne Cricket Ground precincts, according to a US intelligence report. The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) report, obtained by the Sunday Herald Sun under Freedom of Information, paints a grim picture of illegal drug use in Australia. It says: AUSTRALIA has one of the world's highest rates of ecstasy and methamphetamine abuse. THERE are 200,000 heroin users in Australia. ECSTASY manufacturers are using oil from the sassafras plant to make the drug. COCAINE is being smuggled into Australia on flights from South America, and importation is set to rise, and …

Sept. 30 (Bloomberg) -- Canada's marijuana dealers are converting suburban homes and abandoned warehouses into pot farms, creating a C$10 billion ($8.5 billion) market that's three times the size of the nation's biggest legal crop, wheat. Cities such as Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto may each have as many as 20,000 pot factories according to some estimates, said Rich Baylin, former national coordinator for the Royal Canadian Mounted Police. Cultivation is rising because penalties are often one-eighth those in the U.S., and Canadians' acceptance of pot has risen. ``This is a scourge on our communities and a danger to our children,'' Liberal Party lawmaker Jim Karygi…

POLICE will be given new powers to use sniffer dogs trained in cocaine and designer-drug detection to randomly search private premises, including parties. Parents who host teenage parties could request police undertake drug spot checks at their venue in a bid to reduce the increasing incidence of violence spilling into suburbs. Police Minister Judy Spence said yesterday the new laws, to be debated in State Parliament this week and likely to be in place for Christmas and the Schoolies festival, were targeted at drug dealers who preyed on youth. Three labradors will be trained to ignore cannabis but detect amphetamines, methamphetamines, cocaine, ecstasy, angel dust…
