Negative Effects of Prohibition of Cannabis

Hi guys, Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but I just thought I'd share a small incident which happened today, in which 2 of my friends were caught by teachers at school whilst high. Now, they are facing trouble both in school, with their families and with the police. This is unfortunate as they are both intelligent and caring people who have obviously had a lapse in judgement in terms of appropriate times to be smoking ganja. I am a vast proponent for the legalization of marijuana, however the likelihood of this occurring in Australia being virtually 0%, I would at least settle on the dissemination of useful and truthful facts surrounding the use of …

Thursday, 3 September 2009 http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/8237006.stm BBC © MMIX Hemp plants look like cannabis ones, but have little psychoactive effect A triumph for Dutch police quickly turned out to be an embarrassing mistake after they destroyed what they thought was a field of cannabis plants. Police on Wednesday announced they had discovered a plantation of some 47,000 illicit cannabis plants with a street value of 4.4m euros ($6.3m; £3.8m). They had destroyed much of the crop when they were told the plants belonged to a respected school of agriculture. They were a type of hemp, being grown as a fibre for use in textiles. Hemp is related to ca…

If YOU were preparing a media package for the Sydney Rally, what points would you want it to cover. I was thinking of working with the Hemp Embassy on a media package to email out to the media outlets in Sydney in advance of the Rally. SO that means emailing it by Friday lunchtime at the latest, since the rally is gathering from 8 am Monday. I thought of presenting some information like how the NCPIC provides no medical information including some studies re cannabis not being a gateway drug Medical studies How Canada has medical use Federal law and they are commonwealth country too crime has dropped in the US states with medical laws What do you think... What…

August 23, 2009 07:24pm http://www.news.com.au/heraldsun/story/0,2...5005961,00.html © Herald and Weekly Times IF Prime Minister Kevin Rudd can't stop giggling, feels paranoid or overly hungry when he visits Lismore hospital, he'll know exactly what's to blame. It could be the subliminal influence of a 10-metre inflatable joint, which drug legalisation lobbyists will use to try to get the prime minister's attention during his visit tomorrow. Members of the Nimbin Hemp Embassy will gather outside the hospital with their trusty mascot, hoping to talk to Mr Rudd about what they say is a health issue - legalising cannabis in Australia. Sgt. Northcutt's Post-Iraq Nightmare: Getting Arrested for Growing Pot By Fred Gardner, O'Shaughnessy's Posted on September 1, 2009, Printed on September 1, 2009 http://www.alternet.org/story/142337/ Phil Northcutt saw the map of Iraq on the wall and started recalling his time there. He’d been stationed in Ramadi, Al Anbar Province, in 2004. Phil Northcutt: There was this main street, ‘Route Michigan,’ like a 4-lane highway going through town with a 12-inch tall median painted yellow and black. When we first got there you could see big holes in the median. By the time we left, there was no median. It had been blown up along six or seven miles of roadway... There wer…

Schizophrenia link to cannabis denied A STUDY by North Staffordshire academics has rejected a link between smoking cannabis and an increase in mental illness. The research found there were no rises in cases of schizophrenia or psychoses diagnosed in the UK over nine years, during which the use of the drug had grown substantially. Pro-cannabis campaigners seized on the results as supporting the legalising of cannabis, and claimed the report had been suppressed. But the leading expert behind the study said it could be too low-key to re-ignite the debate on whether restrictions should be removed from soft drugs. From their base at the Harplands Psychiatric Hospital in Hart…

Supporters of medical-marijuana patients' rights reacted with sadness and anger at the news of her death Aug. 7. They are organizing a rally next Wednesday, from noon to 6 p.m., in front of the Anavets Senior Citizens Housing Society building in the 900-block East 8th Avenue in Vancouver, where Holsten lived for eight years before being told she had to leave. "We're counting on quite a crowd," pot activist Marc Emery said Thursday. "A lot of people who are similarly disabled will be there. "…

Geocities: The Digital Genesis
In the bustling digital streets of the late '90s, Yahoo Geocities stood out as a haven for burgeoning online communities. It was here, amidst this digital renaissance, that OZ Stoners planted its foundational roots. This marked the dawn of a space that would go on to become synonymous with Australian cannabis culture.
Navigating the Digital Tempests
On its journey, OZ Stoners faced formidable challenges. Between Yahoo's unpredictability and the unexpected anti-cannabis stance of titans like Meta, steering the ship required a blend of adaptability, tenacity, and foresight.
A Hiatus and the Phoenix's Ascent
Come 2022, OZ Stoners entered a period of unplanned dormancy, lasting a challenging 12 months. But, reminiscent of the legendary phoenix, this hiatus was transformed into an opportunity for rebirth. The platform underwent comprehensive upgrades, server enhancements, and a revitalising overhaul. As it emerged, it did so with a phoenix-like rise, soaring higher and brighter, dedicated to serving the community with even more zeal and purpose.
Ode to the Trailblazers
The tapestry of OZ Stoners is woven with the dedication and vision of its founding members. Their relentless drive and contributions have been the bedrock of its success. While many of these pioneers continue to shape its direction, we pause to honor those trailblazers we've lost over time. Their indomitable spirit continues to inspire and resonate within the cannabis community. - Memorial Hall
