LED VS HID?

Recommended Posts

I dont really think you understand LED at all.

LED can last from 2 - 5 times longer then HID globes.

HID are non Toxic also.... CFL are toxic.

TOTALLY WRONG LED ARE NOT 50% - 70%more energy saving then HID. If you compare PAR which is the light plants use not lux or lumens they are very close in power usage.

If you have a Hi par LED that is the same as a HID, they do produce heat. Yes they don't produce as much as HID or CMH but there is still heat. So cooling is still a issue maybe not as much as HID, but also LED bring a new thing to the table.. Heating. If the LED are running cooler... then heating the room is another factor.

Yes LED not have reflectors...

I don't know how you came up with this one. "Maximum chlorophyll absorption and flower production..." Says who? You have you HID, LED, CFL or CMH at the right distance from your plant, so your leaf temps are right. Your plant will take in all the light you give it.

Less frequent watering ..... that is just made up

If your using good LED then yes you will still have a thermal footprint.

The next line is just total bullshit.

The Verdict.....

You have no IDEA what your talking about.

Looks like your trying to sell LED not have an open conversation about them.

This is from migro lights in the Uk. That have a full youtube channel on testing there produce and led vs other HID CFL CMH. AND they even say in ther vids ... LED is only 6 - 14 % better then HID.

All and all.... if you got the money and you need a small grow space .. maybe led are for you .. but 80% of the time there not.

Cheers for that. If you took the time to read my other posts you would have come to a different conclusion.

But I appreciate you taking the time to make your post.as it was indeed informative and too the point.

It sure does Pedro. How are you today anyway mate. It's too hard to communicate via Music, this something I have established.lol  If chat still worked the forums wouldn't be inundated with spam. Ah well lol

I reckon it's starting to get too cold for LED. So I changed my mind. I reckon HPS is better then LED now. What do you reckon Pedro?
