Help please, new plants have taken a turn...

Recommended Posts

Go with the jiffy’s, the others still alive?

What about ph pen or meter?

U should find it a lot easier with the nutrifield coco

If the others a r still alive we should be able to rescue them

Have u repotted them ? This still needs to be done in the meantime otherwise the plant will die regardless, a rough start isn t the best but it’s not the end necessarily

Between us we should get u on right track

+1 on the jiffys. Even i have had 100% success rate with them. I just use plain ph'd water for a week. Then very light stengrh nutes.

Cheers mate, I appreciate all the help so far and ive accepted that I f**ked up on trying to save some money goesng thru bunnings and fried 6 of my 15 seeds..but hey it's my first time lol. I'm confidant once I get em going it will be all gravy. So the jiffy pots look like they will be handy, do I just add coco to the jiffy pot or should I purchase some seedling potting mix?

Also it's a little early to ask this but can this nutrifield coco mix be flushed and reused for the next round?

Straight into the coco in very small pots. I assume you're using photos. Otherwise, if autos, into 3 gal pots. I use fabric pots from ebay. Cheap and work well.

They are feminised photos and I have 5gal fabric pots for the remainder of their lives. So just to confirm, ur saying just put the coco perlite mix into the jiffy pots for germination?

These 2 are in jiffy pots.

The square one is in unbuffered bunnings coco and perlite.

Round pot is jiffy pots with hydrated jiffy puck.

Both have had same water, nutes lighting.

Having a few plants at different stages is a pain in the ass as mixing different strength nutes is time consuming.

Myself next time I am going to listen to my hydro shop guy and SE and go for perlite/vermiculite.

With the jiffys i think some of the guys here prefer the jiffy pucks that have a little sock on them.

Then when you see the roots you repot.

I like the peat pots as it seems yo be more forgiving for noobs with regards to overwateringpost-62757-152559649751_thumb.jpeg

They’re just easier to manage, also no root damage on the small plant when it gets its first transplant, just drop straight into hole

With the square 1 , if y can cut the bottom of it b4 transplant , the roots seem to take a bit longer to get out of those
