"If renewable energy was so fucking great, lets remove the subsidies and see how they go

its a con job"

I agree Pedro there are subsidies for renewables

BUT

There have also been subsidies for DECADES for the coal industry, both direct and indirect subsidies ie tax breaks. If the same sort of money was funnelled into renewables as has been pushed into coal and the fantasy of "Clean coal" (another con job or an oxymoron in itself) we may be talking of a more level playing field. But presently that 'playing field' is slopped so far for the benefit of the coal industry it would take BILLIONS for solar subsidies to catch up. BILLIONS. No wonder the technology is going offshore. Australia may have developed the technology but our govt doesn't support it like it supports big coal.

Hey Pedro,

DICE technology sounds good in theory, but it's still using a carbon based fuel. There is the advantage of capturing the released carbon, but as carbon storage is still in its infancy the science behind it still hasn't exactly been proven. We need something now and the carbon footprint of solar is minimal. Coal in any form has a huge footprint from the mining process all the way through to the burning process. Coal is 90% carbon so the idea of 'clean coal' just doesn't work. If someone comes out and says clean coal can work I want what ever he is smoking 'cos it must be some real good gear.

In 1901 tesla transmitted electricity wirelessly for a couple of miles

1904 JP Morgan gave him $150 thousand to make a radio transmitter, tesla was in fact making a wireless transmitter for electricity

When JP Morgan found out what he was actually doing he canceled the project and the tower was pulled down in 1918

Tesla claimed he would be able to transmit electricity freely to the world, he even suggested he would be able to transmit electricity as far away as the moon and beyond

Now we all know how far that went

Imagine that, free clean power to the world for free

Would you believe the energy it takes to hold a ceramic cup together may be enough to power a city

, think it's called cold fusion

In the 20s tesla talked about ways to beat gravity, could that be the secret of the pyramids , anti gravity device

They called him a mad man and his theories ridiculed, but now they wonder if he was right!

Only a crazy man would invent such things ,supplying breakthroughs in science all for free for the better of mankind

Nissan made a super efficient 2.0 inline 4, turbo diesel back in the early 70s.

At the time they made use of the fancy new ceramics available, reducing friction is the key here.

Had a few other fancy Dancy things too in the injection system.

Ended up super efficient, like 150hp, crazy torque from super low along with great fuel economy.

The stuff is fairly common and more advanced now, but back then was high end tech.

Apparently a man from Shell paid Nissan a visit, he walked away with the many new patents that Nissan had registered for the project, patents usually mean that the tech may filter to new cars.

Shell couldn't have that. Too much crude to sell.

There's probably a whole load of suppressed tech, imagine the shit that has been suppressed in last 10 years.

Hoverboard is probably like a real thing....

I believe that many scientific discoveries have an alternative theory

When we start looking at a subject we fix the path on which we are going to investigate, often leaving all other information behind

Sometimes the world gets fixed on our particular paradigm.

A prime example is photography and the processes of capturing the image one idea was to use an electrical charge on a piece of paper, the other was to use a light sensitive paper. At the time the world went with the light sensitive paper and the electrical charged paper fell out of favour. Only years later the theory was revived and this process was what was used (and in some cases still is) with photocopiers.

But a change in process using the same base material still leaves you with the same base issue and in the case of coal it's carbon or CO2. They may well find some brilliant idea around the clean coal theory that could be adapted to another substance but the word 'clean' and the word 'coal' are not two words that belong together IMO.

Ya, coal is dirty.

Reminds me of the following an engineer on a desal plant mentioned in course of a conversation.

Australia pump the water up from on top of the csg

Then spend a zillion bucks setting up heaps of desalination plants. Massive storage ponds.

Why does is have to be done this way? Some specific reason it can't be pumped back down once gas is extracted like everywhere else that do it?

He didn't even have an answer to the question he posed.

Surely replacing the water thus reducing the cavity left behind after extraction to be better?

Weird
