Aussieau
as the title suggests I need some help! And no not with someone to love (hmmm maybe some Beatles fans somewhere )The facts:First time properly growing indoors , using soil under light (of course ), strain unknown as from bag seed ( fantastic seed laden bud, removed the seeds and the smoke was unbelievable so my thinking being that if it didn't have to expend its energy making seeds then the smoke should be even better? ) Makes sense to me Planted 8 seeds (seeds were over a year since being found and had been through multiple extreme temps.... Whether that would make any difference) 5 sprouted , one I just planted in the garden and it's only 2 inches high and unknown sex after 6weeks, out of the remaining 4 one was male and was culled , 2 are def female with pistils showing on some nodes, 1 is unknown as of yet but 70% chance it's female I think due to shape of pre flowers. So basically I have 3 female plants currently in my grow tent which is approx 2x2x3m , I was vegn them just under 3 55w PLL fluros which have a 4100k rating but today I added the 600w hPs to the mix after reading various info that it would be better on than off even for the verge stage . I'm currently deciding whether to vege for another week or two or just switch across to 12x12 now.... Although in my eyes they don't look big enough to switch and get a decent harvest.Any advise on my lights and whether I should run all of them or just the fluros for vege and the hPs for flowerI have used LST to tie down the two main colas after topping at the 4th node but just don't know how long I should let these suckers go in vege before switching them ..... I don't want to have done all this work to end up with a quarter of smoke .....???? Any ideas, I'll try and do a pic once I work out how to upload it, I've had to do this grow as ICouldn't find a supply in Canberra for my dad going through chemo so after hunting for months I decided growing was my only option so it would be a big waste of I spent 3-4 months growing a quarter ounce Edited March 29, 2016 by Aussieau
billygoat
noble plan. As a smoker you obviously know how much it costs... Strange that you have bag seed, but can't find any supplies suddenly ?? Anyways.... Give the bag seed a go, but if you are really serious and don't wanna give your money to the dodgy oil sellers... Spend big on the right gear and the right seeds.. From what I understand, oil from online sellers costs up to $9k for a month or something silly. $9k would have you harvesting huge quantities with a bit of online guidance.. Growing weed isn't hard if you don't skimp and spend a bit of time on them...
Aussieau
Not too sure what you find 'funny' about the situation, of course I know how much it costs I've been buying for myself for over 20 years, I have lived in countries where it is legal and can go to the local dispensary to get my stuff . Since moving back to Australia (WA first) I've found the smoke to be terrible, after getting the 'amazing seed laden bud' in WA I kept the seeds just incase I wanted to give it a go one day..... Time moves on and my father was diagnosed with cancer stage 3-3 , op to remove cancer and now doing chemo. I moved from WA to Canberra in order to help him whilst going through chemo.... And that's where the problem lies , new to Canberra no connections except for some dodgy guy I met on Craigslist so I was in the position of now having to grow my own to supply myself and my father with something that isn't crud . The entire hydro set up (eb & flow) was loaned to me from ex army mate that isn't growing anymore otherwise I wouldn't have had the cash to buy the lights and crap etc surviving on a military disability pay..... So does that explain my situation more toU so u don't think it's 'funny'.... Thanks for the advice or lack there of , skimping is what people need to do trying to survive on what veteran affairs pays its TPI vets
Aussieau
If you read my original posts on here I was actually enquiring on where I would find stuff in Canberra, I was advised to grow my own and ask questions on here and that's what I've done , hopefully someone can help me with the couple of questions I asked instead of making assumptions on why I'mPosting

Aussieau
So if anyone does have some advice , really my long winded post only asked a couple of questions : should I use all my lights for vege and flower? Or am I best doing what I have read and use the PLL for vege and the HPS for flower? The PLLs are only 4100k 55w Phillips and I have three of those (4 fit in the holder but one slot is damaged). And looking at the pic of the plants currently would you switch to 12-12 or keep in vege a couple of weeks longer? I'm of course after as much at harvest time as possible but also time constraints are an issue as I would like my dad to have some better stuff to help with chemo.... Before his finished.... But I'm worried after all the time and effort if I switch too early in going to harvest a quarter or something silly and it's going to be a big waste of time and money (albeit not a lot of money but when your on an army disability pension $10 is a lot of money) if I had the cash I would have purchased known strains which would have taken a lot of the guess work out but you work with what you have and this is what I haveAny ideas or productive comments are greatly appreciated Thank you
hermananian
Mate, flip them to 12 hrs, using just the hps, I asume you know the rest as you seem to be able to sex the plants. I think billygoat was just trying to point out that you can get strains, cheaply, maybe more suited to your goals. Try herbies, they always came through for me. Just let me know if you need any more info. Hope this helps, herman Edited March 29, 2016 by hermananian
Aussieau
Thanks Herman , I do as much research as I can before asking a question but sometimes there are soMany differing opinions it can get a bit muddy when it's not your exact set up your using etc, I'll leave them tonight with all the lights on the 18-6 schedule then will flip tomorrow and see how she goes , thanks

If the plants are showing pistils in veg, then they are telling you they are keen to get going. Many people like to give a week or so of hps on 16/8 after veging with cfl and I would also recomend to give at least a few days of hps before going 12/12. 2x2x3 is a very decent sized space so you should find space is not really a big issue, but I think many people wish they flipped earlier raher than later when learning about stretch. Regarding having all the lights on, once you switch to hps the cfl's are not required. If you haven't already, be sure to thInk about pest control, soil indoors, using ebb and flow sounds like a nightmare to me. Congrats on getting your grow going for your dad, props to you for that. Good luck and enjoy The entire hydro set up (eb & flow) was loaned to me from ex army mate that isn't growing anymore otherwise I wouldn't have had the cash to buy the lights and crap etc surviving on a military disability pay.....
