First grow plant help

Recommended Posts

This is my first grow I have grown the 3 of these from seeds (great smoko), all 3 popped together but as by pics they are at varying stages, I have not changed routine for any of them and they stay together.

I checked PH run off it came in at 6, I have them in coco hydroponic store stuff.

While small I have them in mixture if outdoor sun (when good) and under 130w 6500k CFL about 2-3 inches away on a 18/6 cycle. Thinking of HPS set up when they little bigger?.

I am doing a 1 on 1 off watering with the nutes.

I am basically throwing open to advice from images I am concerned about dropping leaves and 2 plants have yellowed on bottom leaves as 1 has not I assume this is be an issue also.

Cheers in advance.

Hi mon, droopy leaves look 2 b a bit of over watering, (let coco dry out so pot is light to lift compared to when just watered.) specially in the colder months.

Yellow leaves could be a wee bit hungry. What's yer feed regime?

They look pretty fine tho mate, the new growth looks good.

To me it they look a little over watered and hungry .

Yes, I do too.  I am used to such things lol  you will get a feel for it w/practice. i would let them go way drier, then water them (not as much, maybe just around the base of the stem around 50 ml at a time and see how fast they drink-keep an eye onem and up the volume/strength and frequency as they grow (they let you know).  if you are to err, do so on the side of caution too-we can try to assist them too much sometimes, or I seem to lol.  Hope this will help a little.  I am only pretty new grower and there are many more experienced gardeners with maybe more info but the two quoted will do me-You have checked the ph that is a good first check-gotta think it is over water maybe a little more than under-nute.

Peace to you and good gardening. v :sun:

Cheers for the advice guys, I been doing some reading on site (so full of great stuff) and am continuing to learn where i am going wrong, I think yellow leaves early on may of been due to MAJOR rookie mistake, I was watering whole plant foliage and all early on I put it down to nute burn and since I learned that lesson no more yellowing.

I have just FIMmed them and I think looking ok on pics I have seen?

As i suspected due to comments watering is my biggest concern I am basically watering every 2-3 days at the moment getting run off and drainage is rather quick through the pot, I definitely had underwaterd them very early on (another lesson)

The roots on the better 2 are now showing through holes at bottom.

I don't want to grow them to big but are they due for repot or are roots ok.

Here is current pics 5 days have passed, any advice appreciated.

They are due for a repot, you dont want those roots coming through the bottom or they will be almost impossible to repot.

Java I've noticed you giving out absolutely terrible information.  Just stop and read some books about growing so you can at least have a basic level knowledge before giving information that is meant to help people....I know you're only trying to help but making things up and passing them along as helpful information does everyone a disservice.

The plants are slightly over watered, the pH seems a little high and the plants are a little hungry.  I wouldn't worry about the pH as it its close enough but I would up the nutrients while dropping the amount they get watered.  Do that and they'll green up, perk up and recover from the horrible mutilation they suffered in no time at all.

Mostly good advice you've received, follow it and they will be fine.  Just take a deep breath and have a little patience, once you learn to hold back a bit and let them do their thing when they are little you will have less problems (I'm guilty too), doesn't take long for them to get established and then they will take off.  Think of it like you have to let them develop roots to consume food and water, and leaves to photosynthesise, before they can get growing, during this time they don't drink much, and they can't handle abuse (like constantly wet medium or high strength nutes) very well, they have to learn to crawl before they can run.  Probably could have waited a bit longer to top them, but they should be ok.  They look ok, and should blast off soon.
