My new cloning box

Recommended Posts

How about cutting larger holes in the lid, then lay a piece of black plastic or something across the top, poke clone sized holes in that where the larger holes are underneath. The clones could then be rooted in the intended way and the plastic could be removed with scissors or a knife.

Heyhoo,,,,what about glueing a top of a plastic milk bottle underneath or ontop of the holes and use a plastic milk bottle top as the support...you could also use another bit of piping inside the milk bottle top as an extra support...that way you only need a few milk bottle tops...drill hole in center of top about the size of the pipe,,,split the pipe down one side and place pipe in hole on milk bottle top...drop clone int..that way you can screw clone and support into place...when clone is ready, unscrew milk top and carefully split milk top open with sharp knife...ready to transplant into perlite then clay net pot or straight into clay net pot...

Hey Putard, how about cutting the milk lid in half first and then sticking it back together with tape or a rubber band? Drill the hole first though, you wouldn't need the pipe that way either.

Just a small tip for future designs pipeman....

You've put the airlines for the bubblers in the base, below the waterline of the bubbler, and so you've had to use a lot of sealant, why no have the airline go in above the waterline, even in the lid, and then go down and have the stone in the water? That would reduce or even eliminate the need for sealing the airline entry, and you'd still end up with a good bubbler.... Just a tip...

lgm Luke Skywalker,,,that's some cool advice there...I would actually go for putting the air line in at the top..considering the size of those aero cloners..very neat little units btw...and gluing the stone to the bottom of the container with some plumbers glue or sumthin...

Hey Tom...this milk bottle thing has got me, I'm gonna have to try it now...an yeah splitting the tops themselves does sound like a good idea..although I think I'll just split mine on one side though...no need for messy tape an fiddly bits then...as long as there is the tude inside the top support it should be drama free when removing clone, and it should hang on to the pipe a bit better...

Here's another idea (just had a cone  ), if only split on one side you could cut the threaded part off the milk bottle and glue that on the cloner lid, you would be able to unscrew the milk lids, remove the clones and reuse the lids for the next lot.

Keep those braincells wasted guys, sounds like you're on to something here.... I'm not quite sure I understand the way the lids screw into the lid though, how about a simple pic to show us exactly what you mean? And yeah, I'd go for a putting the airline in in the top too, but make sure there's enough slack in the line to be able to take the lid off and remove clones without pissfarting around.... Although if you used the milk cap idea, that would turn out to be fairly redundant, as you're removing the caps, with clones in them as opposed to the lid itself, which can stay attatched... Did that make any sense? lol

Hey Tom,,,have a beer on me dude...this is too funny rofpmsl...

Heyhoo,,,,what about glueing a top of a plastic milk bottle underneath or ontop of the holes and use a plastic milk bottle top as the support...

Oh well,,,that's what I was saying...

Yeah, I'm gonna do this...I can tell someone's going to beat me with some pics but...

Very good lgm Luke Skywalker...yeah I suppose if you had a hole on the top for the air if wouldn't have to fit too tightly...so when it's opened it doesn't catch???

OK...here is a picture...

The red line are were I'd make the cuts..you can see the top pieces cut out of the milk bottles under the yellow tops...I'd say it wouldn't be too hard to clean up the extra plastic from the bottle after it's been nicely glued in place...I'd say you'd have to coat it all in black...can you see the pipes inserted into the yellow tops ?? They are just normal clear plastic irrigation pipe...the thing I like about this is that you could set up multiple sized milk tops for different sized clones...by using different sized pipes and different holes in the tops...
