i need some ideas on a system for my son to use .. what i want to do is make it with him and show him how to do it and look after his plants (not mj). i'm going to give it to him as one of his xmas presents then both of us can make it and put it together. But i dont know what system to do ,no probs in makeing it . i would like something were we could grow 2 or 3 differnt things in it . i think it will have to be two diff systems due to ph and c.f . e.g flowers or tomates or veg . what im trying to do is get him into doing things and leaining new things . I think this would be a great dad ,son thing in which we could do together . at the mo he comes out and helps wit…

I know that not all of us have the space in our grow room to slap in a normal household oscillating fan so someone out there must have found a smaller version to use then the average sized one and maybe they could share there success. Im looking for roughly a 20 cm diamater fan to fit within my cupboard that moves on its own from side to side. I have one but it is a stationary one and i have to move it each day to make sure all my plants get some breeze. I combated this before with the use of a 555 timer switching 12v fans but the circut has failed after 3 yrs and i couldnt be bothered rebuilding or repairing it as the circut plan was on overgrow and im a lazy shit at…

Just something I thought would be interesting to do, and potentially informative to the uninformed (me)... If you had a $300 budget specifically for a hydro setup in which you wanted to grow only 1-2 plants at any given time, a system that you could keep indoors, with decent ventillation as part of the package...what would you do? Would this be a start, just enough, more than enough, what? I invite you to discuss any ideas, even draw something up...who knows, if your shits good enough, might even commission you to make one for me.

Hi all What is the best way to light proof bubbler buckets and nutrient tanks? I am thinking I will spray in a matt black and then wrap in duct tape. But then I thought about putting white tape on to reflect heat, is there any truth in my theory? How do you light proof your own systems? Also, what do you guys suggest cooling wise to keep my water temp down So far I have been told to put frozen water filled coke bottles in the tank but that will take too much maintainence, any suggestions? I want the temp at 21c of course :smoke treestump

Hey all, just signed onto the site and need a little help with selecting a system to puschase. Ive had a look at my local hydro store and dont mind the EUROGROW sets by Gen Hydroponics. or their rainforest set with unique vortec multi nitrient/watering system. my options are not spending the odd 500-600 on these systems and going for a flood and drain method. for which could be good either way. my help being are these systems good for me or is there any other websites or places I should take a look at. Cheers Cloud9

hello ppl.. after growing in dirt for 20+ years thought i'dd give hydro a go. a mate gave me a old double crate kit, that i looked at for a few weeks thinking of a better design, as i'm used to growing big plants as in 6' to 14' the crate kit is just to small 6 plants so close together, aint going to give me very big plants, so i'm building this new kit as a 3 pot system should be fine for 6' to 8' , plants. i'll be growing outside during summer & in a hothouse through winter as ive been doing in dirt.. i do have lights but cant afford to run them. but thats fine as i've never had any problems growing outside summer or winter. melbourne weather suck…

Sorry for shooting out all the questions here folks...just having ideas. I have a fishtank at home, a relatively small unit, which my spiny leaf insect lives inside. It has an openable lid, and an inbuilt light. I actually threw in a couple of seeds just to see what was happenin'...and it worked...to an extent. Mind you were talking about a tank with a normal fluro light, no nutrients, just some dirt down the bottom, some sticks and leaves. I had like 10 seeds growing successfully in there for a bit, Feeding off the water I sprayed in for the insect every now and then, but ended up with tall stalky things with tiny leaves on top...they reached a certain height (very qu…

OK i have got myself a nice little present sitting in my shed in a Pie warmer ( the type seen in stores holding Pies as shown below) The glass doors and the back glass panel i can replace with plywood for ventilation additions maybe into a carbon filter??? I was thinking that the shelves and the base stainless steel tray would be an ideal dryer and kiff catching tray what are your opinions on the following. Drying ventilation systems??? Drying speed up options (heat, chemical dehumidifiers, peltier devices)??? I havent tested how low a heat i can get it to spit out but if i could make it just sit very low heat non stop it would help the dry as im in a moist o…

I wanna get a grow chamber going on...I was thinking about one of the expensive "all in one" pre-mades, but well, they ARE pretty fucking expensive. So...I figure I'll try and make one myself, as many people up in here seem to think it's a relatively simple endeavour, I'm prepared to give it a try. First of all, I'd like to do some reading. Now, assuming I know nothing of hydroponics other than "you grow stuff under a light", what would be some good sites to visit, or books to d/l that would give me a basic idea, in terms of things like drainage, materials, nutrients, lights...and all that shit. I wanna go way oldskool at my starting point, so let's assume I need HEAPS …

Ok so I'm pretty desperate right now have two new plants in the early second week under a 400w hps, though they are pretty close to the light. I'm using gravel as a medium, and Amsterdam Indoors for the nutrients. My tap water is usually high in alkalinity in the 9.0 - 8.0 scale. I usually have been bringing it down with phosphoric acid. I usually keep the res at 5.8 - 6.0ph. I haven't had a problem with ph fluctutation this time as i'm using gravel instead of clay but the same problem on my plants keeps appearing! FU** The oldest and first leaves started appearing with yellow spots on the leaf tips and then those whole two oldest first leaves on the plant started curl…

can using a oxydator be detrimental to beneficials living in the root zone and res tank, have searched and searched, no one has even heard of it, for those that havent, its a little gadget that sits in ya res with h2o2 in it, and converts it through a little catalyst in the oxydator through the pourous pot on base of the gadget.supposed to put out pure oxygen and water, no h202 comes in contact with the roots system,,can someone please shed some light.

https://www.phototron.com/catalog/phototrons.html The one up the top, I think. Only to grow say 1-2 plants every now and then, and tomatoes the rest of the time. So...I know little about the hydro growing thing, I've not as yet experimented with anything past sun-growing some plants I had in hydro stones, ages ago. Can anyone tell me if this particular system looks to be good? I don't want too much an obvious drain on the power...I mean, I don't mind waiting a little longer for the plants to reach maturity, but essentially I'd be looking for nice chunky yeild. I know it looks pretty, but the specs mean nothing to me. Any growth stuff youd suggest I use in conjunction? …
