DWC questions. 1 2

G'day all. I'm a complete newbie grower, planning to start a DWC grow sometime in the future. I'm trying to think about how to make my setup. I need some basics first though. I'm intending on ordering some quality seeds, sprouting them, and growing with a DWC. All the DWC guides I've seen have been started from clones. Should I grow a mother plant and then grow with clones in a DWC? When you harvest a plant, is it killed, or can you just make it veg again by changing the lights back to 24/7 and change the nutes? Thanks for any advice (and bearing with the newbie questions)

MODERN TIMES it has recently become apparent to me that some growers are unaware of the benefits of frames and the people that do , even people that consider themselves to be major growers most are still not aware of aluminum tubbing. Its cheap and so are solid plastic fittings to suit. it always is a shame to see so much effort and money that goes into some setups all to have it spoilt by a dodge bit of wood banged together absorbing mold and who knows what other dieses. also the strengh and weight of wood are a pain in he ass. :thumbdown I would like to hear others views on this. jailbreakin........................... :yingyang

hey. well, im sick of soil allready, the mess, the wrong pH soil, blahh! everything! im going to grow them a little bigger, and take clones, start DWC. im going to have 2 plants, DWC scrog. im looking to get about 20oz out of a cupboard size 160L X 49W X 170H CM. - this grow will be the replacement for this years failed attempt at an outdoor grow, even though its pretty late in the season. ok, ive got 1 air pump, twin outlet, im guessing im goin to need another ? 400w HPS & 130w CF. if the plant is suspended in clayballs, there is no need to water them is there ? the plant draws the nute solution straight from the tub right ? when i take my clones, when pu…

hi guys, my first dwc setup, seems to be going well, wondering if anyone has any feedback or suggestions about how im going about things. sorry no digicam pics as yet, im sure youve seen a tub and a plant before anyway i have 2 x 80L black tubs with removable lids and 3 x 250mm holes jigsawed in each lid. then have 2 x 30cm air stones in each each air stone receiving ~4750cc/min (9500cc/min/tub) each tub has a 1" hole at the base connected a gate valve. the gate valve with a piece of clear pipe serves to monitor the water level inside the tub without opening the lid and disturbing the plants, or to simply drain the contents of the tub. my grow space is a reasonabl…

Hi team, I looked into my nute reservoir today to see a fair amount of greyish sludge at the bottom! I gave the tank a good shake but it did not dissolve again. I have recently switched to Dutch Advanced nutes. Is this ok? SHould I be doing something? As always, I know I will get swift and informative advice...thanks!

Thanks all for your help on the Hygromite post...I'll definitely post pics of the first harvest. I do have a couple more questions... At what age are the plants transplanted to the hydro system and how?

Setting up first hydro setup....how clean do the hygromite clay rocks need to be? Is a rinse good enough or should they be thoroughly cleaned? Thanks in advance.

Hi Team! All I ever seem to grow are hermies. To date, I have been harvesting pretty early, probably too early judging but what I read here about when to harvest a female plant! My question is: Do the same rules apply for harvesting a hermie? I harvest early to avoid seeds, but is this the best strategy? Should I let it go longer and let the buds get bigger? I only have hermies so there is no chance of spoiling a real female! Thanks!

I switched to new nutes, Dutch Master Advanced. Anyway, after a few days my grow room stank! It was pretty bad, like a dead rat. However, it was not a dead rat but rather the nutes! It smelled bad for a week, then the smell disappeared - well, diminished markedly. Is this normal? :whistling

Hi Stoners, I am currently brainstorming for a new GR, and really want to go aeroponics. The only problem I am expecting is keeping the nutes at 20c. So, I have an old box freezer. I am hoping there is an easy way to adjust the thermostat, as to keep the nutes at 20c........please tell me there is :scratchin

Like the thread says what are peoples opinions on growing plants in a fish tank terarium, is there any downside to this ? Moisture etc. I was thinking its not a bad idea to put that reflective material around the inside of the glass so noone can actually see in and keep the lighting all happy ?
