help needed

Recommended Posts

i need some ideas on a system for my son to use .. what i want to do is make it with him and show him how to do it and look after his plants (not mj)lol.

i'm going to give it to him as one of his xmas presents then both of us can make it and put it together. But i dont know what system to do ,no probs in makeing it . i would like something were we could grow 2 or 3 differnt things in it . i think it will have to be two diff systems due to ph and c.f . e.g flowers or tomates or veg .

what im trying to do is get him into doing things and leaining new things . I think this would be a great dad ,son thing in which we could do together . at the mo he comes out and helps with my one ..heheh and used to help when i did it on a bigger scale..

he will be 4 in feb so still very young and with some help im sure he could pick it up and look after it by himself after been shown how to do it..

any ideas would be great thax

tt :toke:

a good way to go I reckon would be to build a small NFT system.. and grow some herbs.. parsley, corriander, chives.. ect... flouros would be more than enough id imagine... or you could even set it up out doors..

wouldnt be too much to build.. and it would be a great place to start.. also not to mention fresh herbs as a bonus...

hwdy mate. Just bought a mini greenhouse for my 2 kids to use...they like putting the seeds in the pot and all that, but then they like ta pick up tha pots and tip them out....so i saw this 2 level green house for $20 from bunnings...and teaching them that we get the pots out, we water them, but once they go back in the greenhouse, we dont touch....anyway, its working really good so far...there's also a bigger one there at bunnings also....kids are askin me every ten minutes if they've grown a bit yet..hope that helps mate...

Heres a cheapy bubbler system , the pots can either be home made or bought net pots ,

1 ) $20 for the recycling bin from Bunnings

2 ) $45 for the 4 x outlet pump and airstones/black tubing

3 ) $20 from memory for the the twin flouro 36W

Obviously nutes and testers are going to cost you

EDIT ill have to resize the pics

It's ok twotime, we all know ur just thinking of ur retirement and your son being a hydro master to take care of your smoking needs

Aquamisers are brilliant and simple. Especially if ur using fytocell. They are cheap (about $60) too.

Also autopots, using fytocell. I've personally used these with a lot of success. Using an autopot with perlite currently for a trial but will be switching back to fytocell as results were nowhere near as good with perlite.

Pick something to grow that will be like a rich reward (as we get a big reward from mj so must he!)

Strawberries??? they will grow and be easilly divided to create more plants and fill your area after starting with one plant. also they are not a big vertical growing plant so the system could be nearly in a deep drawer.

damm the idea is sounding good for me and my 6 yr old.

Cheers for the idea man !!!!!

(hmm i hope if he mentions hes hydro system at school he remembers to tell people whats in it i.e strawberries.....)

WARNING the changes due to the drug laws soon are made harsher if the system is within access to preteen children or if they know about it *(the goverments attempt at doing the opisite to what you plann)
