is it ok to use a long fluro that is designed for an aquarium on MJ plants? the light is sort of a purply colour if that helps?

I think its pretty dumb, but being a newbie I had to ask. I was sitting in a chat room, last night chatting with a stoner somewhere in Canada. We spoke for a fairly long period of time too. One of the things He told me was, that if you use a black light in your growroom, that its changes the colour of the hairs on the flowers?? He stated that He tried it and it worked, it produced Vibrant coloured hairs?? Now Is this guy speaking through a hole in his head, Or maybe ther is some truth to this? puzzled.

Hey all I need some advice on growing under fluros. How many fluros for 3 clones abot 10 cm tall. Do I need to change lights for flowering? Will they grow tall and lanky? I have no idea as I am a MH, Sont grower so some advice will be greatfull Regards all

I am setting up a small grow box namely a 100 litre esky to start my (seeds) babies off in before putting them into their main pots. What would be the best light system for this. The reason is our night time temps over the last 6 nights have been minus 6. And as I've not got my cupboard to grow in as yet, and want these babies to have a good start.

I'm thinking about converting a two bath to a bath and a half. I was looking fo what kind og lighting system to use and ran across this new LED system. has anybody use one? Hi there one and all, Setting up a flowering area, a small wardrobe 86cm wide, 45cm deep and 142cm high. Was originally planning on using a 250w hps in this area, but have read it does 2ft x 2ft. Does this mean my extra 25 cm width wont be recieving sufficient light, as Im planning on flowering 3 plants and am worried that the ones on the outer edges will suffer. Started toying with the idea of maybe using a 400w hps which will give me 97w/sq ft as opposed to the 250w's 60w/sq ft, but with the 400 I then have the problem of extra heat and the extra distance from the light to the plant required and my area isnt really all that tall to start with. I am currently experimenting with a small grow in a confined area (just a small cupboard) Its getting colder these days and the light im using doesnt produce much heat, the temp hugs 25 degrees. So theres no need for venting hot air out because there is none, however i know a plant needs oxygen to grow and the only ventilation the plant is getting at the moment is from a 3mm gap that surrounds the cupboards door. plus the door gets opened almost everyday from me checking its progress Is that enough for the plant to keep healthy? or shoiuld i really ventilate it more?

If you are having a problem getting air in and out of your room, the problem most likely is your ducting, the best way for better ventilation is to pull your ducting tight, have the extractor as close to the roof as possible but don't attatch it to the roof, those vibrations can get noisy. Have a piece of ducting between the roof and the Extractor/Intake. Use packaging strips to hold things in place (these thin blue strips from boxes.) I attatched them to the rafters in the roof. I used thick butchers twine, and either of those also make it a little more quieter, while providing a better air flow. Good Luck

Does anyone know if a grow room 2m x 3m will run cooler with 2 x 1000w or 4 x 400w. Your help will save me doing an expensive experiment. Also has anyone heard about the 1000w optic fiber heatless hydro light I initially saw it in a high times mag now I can't find it. Also there is talk of high powered fluoro's, LED's, and other alternatives. Does anyone have any info or links on these?

Was checking out lights at the local hydro shop yesterday and the bloke was offering 400w HPS with remote ballast and a 5 year guarantee with a veg bulb for $190. He recommended getting the flowering bulb later for $55, red and blue spectrum etc . Sounds alright to me but nothing to compare it to. What do you lot reckon? Thanks in advance.

Horticultural - HPS/MH veg and flower stages (Son-T-Agro, Grolux, Lucagrow, etc.). My plants are grown from seedling/clone to harvest under two 430w Son-T-Agro HPS/MH horticultural lights.
