I decided to post this topic as I am growing using seasol as a base and I appear to be doing allright. It will also give me an opportunity to learn from others who have already done this. Firstly, I have chosen to hand water, growing in individual pots, in a mix of perlite, potting mix and seed raising mix with some worm castings worked through it. Equal portions of each medium with about 1 ltr of castings. Now, for seedling/clones, I use 1ml per ltr of seasol, 1ml per ltr of powerfeed, 1/2 ml per ltr roots excellerator. ( Van der Zwann) Early veg, 2ml per ltr powerfeed, 1ml per ltr seasol, 1/2 ml roots excel and 1ml per ltr multi zyme, ( again, Van der Zwann) Peak veg, 2…

Hey guys, There are so many advanced things being discussed here it's making my head spin. I've never grown anything before (not even a flower or tomatoes or shit) and have no plant knowledge.... I just had a walk through flower power and couldn't see any of the stuff being mentioned here... All I really want is 2 or 3 plants, grown indoors with a simple light setup, no fancy hydro Please can I have some basic soil advice? If I can get it at an ordinary plant shop or readily off an australian site that would be great... also what I should use to fertilize my babies and how often etc... like I said I know NOTHING but am very willing to learn... the main problem I'm …

Just before i begin let me assure you, I know this is one of the most opinionated and debated questions when it comes to growing. Ok...so im currently planning my first grow and trust me, ive done my homework. But I think ive done too much homework because Im so confused what medium to use. Now I'm not asking which is the best one blah blah...I just have need a few things put in perspective. (im planning an indoor grow, hand watered w/ added neuts.) Now my first medium idea was 75% perlite - 25% vermiculite but I read somewhere else that general purpose sand needed to be added to anchor the plant door. Is that true or is 75%P-25%P a good mix as is? I was also cons…

Hi everyone, Reading up on some general EC levels for hydroponic nutrient mixing and can't seem to find an answer to my question. I was thinking of this situation; - Grower wants to reach an EC level of around 1.8mS during bloom on a run to waste system. - Grower follows the labelled instructions on bloom nutrient + additives (ie. 4ml per 1 litre) and fills up the reservoir tank, EC reading is well below desired level. Question is; Is it ok to continue adding nutrients above the recommendations until you reach that EC level. Obviously stirring and re-checking along the way? Thanks again guys! JA

Having a debate over soil grown pot vs hydro. Which medium produces the best quality cannabis? I'm only new to soil blends, and I am still experimenting, but prefer it over hydro, as opposed to the sister in law, who thinks hydro is more potent. So, organic vs hydro? Understood, there are a lot of factors to consider, but from your own personal experience, which would you consider to bring out a strains full potential?

Hi all, I have always wondered about this and thought well why not ask the the group! When filling a barrell / nutrient mix, reaching your desired EC then go to regulate your ph using a 'PH Down' Hydrochloric Acid. Once the ph is set the number will slowly continually rise over time and you can go back and regulate again. My question is; why does it take considerably less PH Down to bring the numbers down again that second time round? ie. It may of take 5 mls to bring the initial reading down .5 but the second time you might only need say 1ml. Anyone thought this? I couldn't find any light reading on this. Cheers!

Gday Im a bit concered with the pH of my perlite recirc. Im getting a dirft in the pH each feed. Normally the pH wont move too much and Ill have to adjust it at the end of a 12 hr period. However, the pH shift on this grow swings from 5.5 to 7+. after each feed! Im using symbiot nutrient additive, and a citrate for the pH down. I dont know if the organisms in the solution would use the citrate?? I may try the 'other' bottle of down they sold me. and concider not using symbiot additive. Has anyone experienced this before?? Im used to the pH changing just not this much, after each feed!

I went to my local hydroponic shop in January and old mate told me he was out of House & Garden coco due to them having quality control issues where it was being made. So they took it off the sri lankins or who ever make it and now make it in Holland. So now it comes in and different shapped bag and different image on the front. I had noticed in my last bag and another a few months back there was a sea shell amongst the coco, so I am not supprised there has been quality control issues. I will still continue to use H&G coco as I found it to be a bit better than the Canna. The Canna seems more ground up or finer than the H&G.

Making up your nutrient solution is a regular job for hydroponic growers – and most of us probably think we know what we’re doing – right? Just like how most of us are familiar with the phrase, “falling at the last hurdle”! Because unless you know exactly how to deploy your hydroponic nutrients, that’s exactly what you could be doing. Shortcuts are all too tempting to fall into when you’ve been growing for a while. And if you’re not making up your nutrient solution properly you could well be impeding the performance of your nutrients. This is particularly important for growers using multi-part nutrients (e.g. two-parts and three-parts) as these can be more complex than ma…

Who uses medi-one on their plants?, because I have just spent the last coupla hours looking for some positive feedback from people other than testers employed by the company. Why, because I'm about to suss it out, but not on all the plants. I'm going to grow three plants, same strain, same medium, different nutes. First feeding program will be medi one, as per recommended feeding plan on the label, however, I am already unsure, the npk being the main concern, the second coming from when I opened the bottle for the first time, talk about ripe! The second program, I'm going to have another crack with seasol and power feed, this time with the addition of guano during flower…
