Had a read of a few forums today and came across a vaporizer made from a lava lamp. So having an old one around decided to try it. Using the base with a 40W bulb I checked the temp. 180-190'C max. Next I had to get something close enough to the bulb. Firstly suspended a cone and mesh in tinfoil over top but not enough heat. Came across an article whereby guy had wrapped lightbulb in tinfoil and made a cone in the top. I've filled a mesh with a pinch of herb and sat it on the tinfoil covered bowl. I have a vaporite hyper vr- 003 (from cheating the hangman) Came real quick, but I can't get any good pulls out of it. Does any one know where I should set it? 390F is where its at and a bit of experimentation hasn't found anything better? Instructions say pack lightly on screen and tamp down with rubber on pencil or something. How much weed should I use? how thick should it be? The fan comes on and an alarm sounds, when should I start toking? I have been a bonger for years and am so far less than impressed with the hyper. This new years I'm going camping up along the river with my family and need a way to smoke up that won't produce a smell that drifts all over the campsite and through random peoples tents when they're trying to get to sleep. Any ideas? I saw about portable vapourizers on google but not sure how much they'd be at off ya tree, probably too much.

so basically what i need to know is what type of pipes do what? basically what i want is something pretty small that is really smooth (or as smooth as possible for a pipe) and when i smoke with it do i chop it liek normal and mix with tobacco? thanks guys

So the one type of Vapo I haven't tried are the ones that you put in/on your bong instead of/as well as the pipe. I've seen some footage and people clain they work, but I've only seen such claims on sites selling them. I noticed the linked shop here has a few of them, and I thought they might be an alright way to "compromise", for those that prefer the immediacy/feel of a bong. I've been thinking about it. But, how do they work? If I am to buy/use one I want to make sure that it's of good quality and there's no combustion/carcinogenic content coming my way after using it. Also an assessment on the potency/effectiveness would be nice. Thanks in advance. - B.
