ACT police carried out three simultaneous raids in the inner southern suburb of Yarralumla yesterday morning. A 44-year-old man is helping officers with their inquiries. Police said the raids had been planned for several weeks following community information about an alleged cache of potentially dangerous material being stored in a suburban home and garage. MPP's release/ On June 6, 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled 6 to 3 that the federal government can continue arresting patients who use medical marijuana legally under their state laws. Raich was whether the federal government has the constitutional authority to arrest and prosecute patients who are using medical marijuana in compliance with state laws. In its ruling, the Supreme Court indicated that Congress—not the Court—must be the institution to change federal law to protect medical marijuana patients from arrest. Wh…

The Cannabis Treatment Service in the Sydney suburb of Parramatta is so successful that it now has the interest of international medical experts. Dr Jon Currie has treated over 400 cannabis-dependant patients at the clinic during a 12-month trial. Withdrawal from cannabis, says Dr Currie, can be "really very difficult — they get angry, irritated, aggressive, so they often just don't stop". One of Dr Currie's patients, Julia Norcott, was dependent on marijuana for more than 20 years, "I'd get up every morning and have to have a few cones straight away to start the day," she admits. A combination of medication and counselling have now cured her addiction. "I can say every…

A DRIVER who became a victim of Victoria's roadside drug test fiasco is suing the State Government. John De Jong, 40, said being falsely named and shamed as a drug taker had had a devastating effect on him and his family. The van driver, identified as the first in the world to return a positive result in a roadside drug test, said a Victoria Police refusal to apologise had forced his hand. "I think I have to take legal action. I don't really see myself as having a choice," Mr De Jong said. "I did ask for an apology and nothing came back."
