Aaron Falk Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2008 http://deseretnews.com/article/1,5143,705262156,00.html GREEN RIVER — More than 100 pounds of marijuana were shrink-wrapped, layered with alcohol-soaked paper towels, placed in plastic bags, covered with axle grease and drenched with Febreze. But it wasn't enough to throw off the dog. A Utah Highway Patrol K9 officer found the 28 bundles of marijuana Sunday inside three suitcases on a Greyhound bus traveling from California to New York. A 57-year-old Jamaican woman on the bus was arrested in connection with the incident. Police are still trying to identify the woman, who was using a fake name to travel because she was an illegal …

Monday 10 November 2008 http://www.dutchnews.nl/news/archives/2008..._soft_drugs.php © DutchNews.nl The Dutch policy of turning a blind eye to the sale of small amounts of cannabis came under further pressure on Sunday when the leader of the Christian Democrats in parliament called for an outright ban. Speaking at the CDA party congress, Pieter van Geel said the current policy had failed and that all the cafes where soft drugs are sold, known as coffee shops, should be shut down. The CDA’s minority coalition partner ChristenUnie also supports the closure of coffee shops. Labour, the third party in the government, is opposed. Van Geel’s call comes just weeks …

Boston Globe David Abel, Globe Staff 8 November 2008 Boston, MA -- Advocates for the decriminalization of marijuana, savoring their success this week in Massachusetts, said they look forward to a day under an Obama administration and a Democrat-led Congress when it's no longer a federal crime to possess small amounts of the drug. They cited a bill introduced in the spring by Representative Barney Frank, which would decriminalize possession of marijuana in amounts of 3.5 ounces or less anywhere in the United States. The bill, if it became law, would end federal prosecution of such crimes, but it would not supersede state laws. The advocates said they hope the bill w…

As we approach the 403 anniversary of Guy Faulks day this coming Wednesday and we are just a few days from Trial the circus of the vic legal system continues in style. Yesterday the Lawyers we had in place, ordered by the court under a section 360 of the crimes act application and paid for by Legal aid, to present our case told us that "The obligations they have to the court due to the oath they have taken precludes them from presenting to the court the arguments we wish to present in our defense and that as we are not restricted by the same obligations may be better off presenting our case ourselves". Cowards, These are the same lawyers who just weeks ago told us we had …

High Expectations Research into medicinal marijuana grows up. By Amanda Schaffer Posted Thursday, Nov. 6, 2008 Slate.com http://www.slate.com/id/2203922/ This summer, British and Italian researchers found that in a laboratory plate, molecules in marijuana can slay the superbug methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, which recently infected seven babies and four employees in a Yonkers, N.Y., maternity ward, heightening fears of outbreaks in schools and locker rooms, as well as in its more familiar breeding grounds, hospitals and nursing homes. In theory, compounds derived from the cannabis plant could someday serve in topical creams for patients with MRSA or other a…

NORML 05 Nov 2008 Paul Armentano, NORML Deputy Director The politics of compassion have overcome the politics of fear. Tonight, Michigan became the thirteenth state to legalize the physician supervised possession and use of cannabis. According to early returns, more than 60 percent of Michigan voters decided in favor of Proposal 1, which establishes a state-regulated system regarding the use and cultivation of medical marijuana by qualified patients. Voters endorsed the measure despite a high profile, deceptive, and despicable ad campaign by Prop. 1 opponents — who falsely claimed that the initiative would allow for the open sale of marijuana “in every neighborhood,…

Judge slams culture of booze and drugs PHOEBE STEWART Northern Territory News November 1st, 2008 http://www.ntnews.com.au/article/2008/11/0...371_ntnews.html THE NORTHERN Territory's top judge has criticised people lobbying to legalise cannabis or turning a blind eye to alcohol abuse. Chief Justice Brian Martin said on Tuesday both were destroying young people's lives. He said anyone who suggested that drug taking or excessive drinking were not a threat to young Australians would change their mind after a day in court in the Territory. "Anyone who suggests that the consumption of cannabis and alcohol is not harmful should sit in this criminal court and other cr…

I just heard a cop talking on the radio about the pedophile ring that was busted today. He said 'no matter what sophisticated security you try to hide behind on the net, even encryption, they will bust you.' I doubt they would put that effort into harmless people like us but it does show what they have at their disposal. Unless of course he was telling fibs and their info came from another source.
