The pro's and con's of COCCO

Recommended Posts

If I can grow in coco any one can. I use molasses after the 2 week of flowering and think there’s a difference. I read somewhere that molasses is like using a “big bud” product just no nasties.

Louise, do you find the molasses adds something to the flavour of ya buds?

Molasses is not a booster like big bud. Molasses in simple terms feeds the microbes in the soil/medium that help the uptake of food. Best use it all the way through. Also there is no evidence to show “sweeteners” add flavour.

Few tips from a long time coco grower.

As someone said before, coco holds onto calcium and mag so that is why pure coco growers add it.

Adding perlite is for drainage and airing

Coco can be reused.

I have gotten the best results when running good bacteria, to reuse the coco.

Gnats mix does stop gnats. Also keeping top inch of coco dry. Coco, gnat mix then clay balls I find works well

Indoor or out, over watering can be an issue. I feed 3 feeds a day for 1 minuet each in 50 litre pots. Out side I water like soil only when needed, normally every 5 days in 60 litre pots. Can also feed less inside

Have fun all

Flood and drain maybe with an external reservoir? And you could use a second pump to pump out the tray after each flood. I do something similar with my hempys at the moment. The drippers water for 2 mins at 6pm and midnight. And the return pump goes from 6.05-6.08. Works perfectly in a flood and drain tray.

There is a 4 way powerboard i got off ebay that can be controlled by your phone and internet that allows you to set multiple timers to the minute for each seperate plug... when i set back up after moving house I'm planning on experimenting with a recirc system with lights, pumps and fans being controlled a bit more systematically than I do now. The only problem I have observed so far is that it doesn't turn itself back on after power goes out unexpectedly like power failure. Had a blackout the other day and only half my lights came back on... I'll find a link to it if you, buzzo or anyone else is interested.

Sounds cool man, but you would definitely need one with a safeguard for black outs.

I ended up setting on timers every half hour so it was never off for more than halfa. Less light is not as big an issue as too much of course.
