Autos are like a hill climb or a gymkhana or any motorsport event that you get little to no practice for.

 

Bear with me.....

 

In these type of events you usually do a run on the course at normal speed, familiarise yourself with where the road goes.

Not worth a shit really, unless you have done the event a few times.

 

Then it's waiting, then your on and the clock is ticking. Cold tyres, cold brakes, cold driver.

 

Course may be around the 60s mark and you may get 4-6 runs for the day.

Difficult.

 

Photos are like a general practice day or sprints etc where you can reel off lap after lap.

Fuck a corner up, well you will get another shot at that corner next lap, go too hard for your tyres for a bit, well do a few cool down laps so you can give your tyres and brakes a rest.

 

Go for the pb when it all feels good and all data is saying so too, no such luxury with autos. Gotta pb on first lap.

 

Or almost like sex without foreplay. lol
