Carbcon
And if somebody knows pineapples maybe they know paw paws too. Mine has fruit, maybe 150mm x 50mm wide. Not getting any bigger. Wondering how I can help it as it looks like there is lots more fruit starting.

itchybromusic
you do need to protect seedlings in hot weather but water ain't always the answer delicate root systems can be effected by minor things like a lill to much water even on hot days put them in shade on those days or even bring them indoor if you have too
Carbcon
Not much to report. No pics today I'm afraid. Cover crops getting a bit stronger, happy with that. Made an itchy to mix but ran out of pots.Currently bagged, I figure the wait will only help it but you did say somewhere it's good to go?Also mixed up a dr gt super soil 30l. Bagged also. I have taken a 3l sample pot of each currently with nothing in them. Raining hard now. I also mixed up a light batch I'm hoping will suit autos better. Any thoughts on autos mix anybody? I have done some reading and feel the typical recipe too hot maybe, also P and K in rock dust maybe not so good for autos right away. Peat 20l, castings, drainage, 14l each. Half cup Neem, kelp and 2 cups mbp. Gypsum and dolomite added too. Hope to top dress whatever else they need, seeds cracking ATM. So main aim of this post is to ask about auto mixes. Thanks all Edited January 29, 2018 by Carbcon
Carbcon
Bit of an update! Cover crop grew well in all but one pot. It got scorched a while back on a real hot day. Cut cover crop a few days ago and let it dry a bit. Then i decided to add all the fabric pots of mix 1 into a single 85l pot.I made up a fresh mix to bring volume from 60-70\75 to allow for mulch and future top dressings. Did the same for mix 2 and 3 but left them in their 52\32l pots even though I may go 85l pots with these too. Happy with amount of worms in the mixes with castings. Added a thick layer of Lucerne and plan to leave them sit for a few weeks and then perhaps run some Daikon radishes and leave them in there. In no rush with these soils so looking at a September use. They have got nothing but rain water from tank and sky. Tank water is 5.4\5.5 pH and 0.0 ec
itchybromusic
looks great mate you can get plenty of green manure pretty quick ay it'll all dry on the top of the pot , just keep ya greens & browns , carbon to nitrogen relatively in checkbit more brown than green how many people look at ya & say , " Dude ya growing fucking weeds "
Carbcon
Cheers man! Ya, everything else in pots there is kinda evident what it is but have been asked the question what's growing in them!! Ones with clover is fairly clear. The green manure mix wasn't labelled so my answer was, dunno, looked to be some wheat\oats, the odd tomato, lupins, who knows! I do like the clover though, sooo fast. I have been running a 2l pot indoors now with just clover, coming up to its 3rd cycle now. Pretty happy considering the shitty weather. Having upload problems ATM but have a few canna plants in probably too hot mixes I'd like opinions on. I just wanted to see what would happen and had a heap of bagseed. Carbcon
So here are 2 bagseed. They are 3wks, maybe a month old. Germed in Scott's seed raising mix and probably had some fungus knat damage in the great fungus knat war during January even though no light colouring or twisted leaves evident. They had Neem foliar sprayed, dunked in Neem in their small 200\250ml pots. DE on surface of soil etc. So about 2 weeks ago I potted up to these.3.6l fabric pots. Worth noting they endured 48hrs dark due to necessity last weekend too. Mix on left with green twist tie is a dr gt super soil mix that was mixed 3 weeks ago. Took this sample at time of mixing. One on right is a more traditional mix that I mixed myself. I realise these soils may be a bit hot. I was stingy as fuck with water until last night when I put 1.5l water through them. They are a dark green but no leaf tip burn. Growth is obviously slow. Slumming it under a 250w CFL atm. I have no problems pulling these and putting the soil back in their respective bags to continue cooking but outside of repotting with straight peat or something to make the soil less hot, what steps could I take to maybe encourage these to grow a bit better? I realise they have had a hard life up to this point but they look better than I thought despite my ill treatment I think. Thanks
