First outdoor grow(auto & reg) - need advice!

Recommended Posts

For my 2 regular seeds Im thinking of getting seasol & nitrosol(from bunnings) for vege and feeding at 1/4-1/2 strength doseage.
Anyone used a product from bunnings for flower stage they could recommend?

Another thing im having trouble with is deciding if to do my autos in coco/perlite or soil/perlite. Ive already got 2 plants in soil both are seedlings still but ive got some autoflower seeds ready to go.
Should i just let my 2 regular seedlings stay in the soil/perlite and keep it basic with bunnings nutes and then do my 2 other autos in coco/perlite and buy coco specific nutes for them (eg. Cyco range nutes)?
Or should i just stick to soil/perlite for my autos also and use the same nutes?

Another question is - when watering..how much? I cant seem to find a decent guide for it. all my pots are 20L buckets with drainage holes drilled in the bottom.
When i go to mix up the nutes how much water should i give to each plant?

Please help!

I've used powerfeed it's great just as good as with my canna nutes! Powerfeed will.make it very.alkaline be sure to drop and test Ph! With flowering u could use Pk 13/14 with your powerfeed slowly dropping nitrogen, try.adding molasses also! Be sure to.test ppm ruffly calculate the npk of your mix! with watering water to.run off! Don't water again till pot has dramatically depressed in weight and top 2 inches are dry! I'm a noob but in my opinion a wet.and dry.cycle is needed don't ever allow it to stay wet! Good luck mate

I use/will use

Molasses - great for flowering and providing a range of micro-nutrients

Seasol - soil conditioner

Canna Terra Vega  - for Veg

Canna Terra Flores - for Flower

Perlite/Soil mix

Last year I used Miracle Grow All purpose for Vege and the Flores for flower.

I have found the Miracle grow especially good for transplanting and helping negate the transplant shock to the plants. I have read mixed reports about it as a general NPK Fertiliser but I was happy with my results. Having said that there is no comparison to The Canna products which are far better but of course much more expensive to,

Masters and many nurseries stock the Manutec range.

When I was growing in soil I used seaweed extract throughout and fish emulsion during vegetative growth and early flowering. Swapping to Manutec flower booster and Mauntec soluble trace elements after the initial stretch into flower had finished.

Plants were fed every 3rd watering (during veg and flower)... that's water twice with plain water and add fertilisers to the third watering. This should work out to about once a fortnight...

Trace elements were added once a month during flower. I amended the potting mix with dolomite to begin with... helps stablise the pH against the acid produced by the decomposing peat and provides calcium and magnesium. At first I would top dress with dolomite again at the beginning of flower, but found the soluble trace elements did a much better job during flower.

That's about it... I began to feed with fish emulsion when the lowest leaves began to yellow with 1/4 strength of dosage for vegetables (yellowing in the oldest leaves is a good sign that there isn't much available nitrogen left in the soil). I used the Manutec formulas at half the recommended strengths on the packaging.

I use coco and perlite now and doubt I will ever go back to soil... even my veggie gardens are 50:50 coco and compost/soil. It's just that good!

sweet ill have to check out some nurseries!

Planted the babies today in 50/50 soil/perlite mix..had abit of trouble with drainage the buckets would flood so had to drill alot of holes even some up the sides of the buckets to get it to drain well which was weird. hopefully works out ok
Most likely will try coco next grow regardless of how this one goes.

Will post a log in a few weeks wen theres smthing interesting to show

Here is my regular seed that survived the transplant..and also got another 1 going in a smaller pot to replace the one that died

Hoping its a female, how long before they show sex ?
