Getting started (overview of plant growth and hydroponics), building your system (and the equipment you’ll need), Growroom design/putting it together, lighting, ventilation, the different types of growing systems, essential growers guide (optimum grow room practices), nutrient maintenance, growing medias, feed regimes, nutrients, hydro for hydro (fundamentals of water), Bugs, root disease, hormones, growing technique (the authors preferred method of growing), tips and tricks to optimise flower yield, control (controlling your environment-the key to excellent yields), cloning, growing from seed, troubleshooting and also a section on common mistakes made by beginners.

I found the bug section invaluable, and the illustrations brilliant Makes identification easy as. Just an easy to understand guide all up, 8 cones out of 10

It’s a 2002 book, available from most WA hydroponic retailers, and on-line. I'm not sure if it's available in other states, check with your local hydro store.

I just made a post about this book and came to do a review in this forum until I saw there already was one.

 

Yes its a great book and is available in hydro shops around Australia. The best and most up to date book on indoor cultivation that exists IMO.

Blast from the past! Yep, it's still my favourite and I still refer to it occasionally, it keeps to the old KISS rule too so great for newbies.

I have to disagree regards the integral hydroponics book. Yes, it is a valuable resource, but comes across a little opinionated and "this is the way to do it and that's all she wrote...." I disagree fundamentally with some of his advice, such as having a timed exhaust fan and a separate fan for day and night exhausting. It says "beware the guru" and then proceeds to become exactly that.

 

His advice is relevant and most of it is good, true, but I also know the guy, and have to say that even though his writing skills may be good, I haven't yet met a person who he hasn't pissed off.

 

That said, good to see people producing local books. My own simple effort is coming along, and I'm sure it will be just as opinionated and "this is the way to go" as his, but it doesn't mean I have to like what he's produced, or the guy himself.
