3Grows per bulb MH and HPS

i was actually having loads of problems with 600w son-t agro's not lasting more than one grow on my digi ballast which is what led me to look more into it.

 

as i stated earlier digi's arent all they are cracked up to be. some of the newer ones are getting better but you are best off running digi lamps with them.

 

when looking at a comparison of a lumatek ballast vs magnetic there really isnt a lot of difference. usually around 100lumens which is negligable and an electricity bill saving of around .1 to .3 cents an hour.

 

dont get me wrong im not anti digi in fact i just this week purchased a brand spanker in the form of the new solis tek 1000w i will however be running it with either solis tek lamps or perhaps sun pulse (i have been hearing a few bad things about sun pulse lamps though) either way i will be running high frequency digi lamps.

Dont go with sun pulse. I ran a 600w 3k for 38 nights/5weeks into flower and ditched it back to a new hps. My plants just didnt have the same growth rate as experienced with an hps, and i wasnt going to cross my fingers for the last 3-4 weeks.

Was thinking more of testing depreciation of lumens over the grow to see if this '3 grow per bulb' claim holds any weight. 

I reckon you may have been losing globes because they're not designed to handle the frequency that digis put out ( mags fire up slower )

if it doesn't hold up with your gear then we could safely call bullshit

i alway run my hps for 12 months and through them away. its not so much the lumen output that has to be considered here its the light spectrum that does swing/change during the lamps lifetime.

i run a lumatek, its cycles at 22000hz compared with my old ballast's 50-60hz. so this thrashes a standard globe,would recommend a digitally rated globe for sure
