Auto flower seedlings nutrients help

Recommended Posts

always easier to use less then add more if you think they need them.

How true brick, it's a bit stressful trying to experiment and keep an eye on things when they're so far away so I don't really have much choice but to err on the side of caution.  Couldn't see any more burning yesterday, and we are due decent rain today which should do a good flush.  They are looking healthy and perky, and are just starting to develop branches now, so I'm pretty happy that things seem to be coming together now.

As a guess I would deff say that they are under fed for sure and looks like the medium you are using may be a little hard for the roots to get through, next time try a coco/worm casting mix it is the be and end all medium when it comes to growing autos. For best results try autos in a dwc and any type of water culture type setup they do very very well in these, but if you decide thats a little to much trouble deff go the coco/worm castings :)

Hi Shroomy, you are most likely right about the medium being a little hard for the roots.  Thinking about it, the bit of soil I mixed in has a bit of clay content and tends to compact a bit when wet, then dry out fairly solid.  I gotta get me a good worm farm setup and start collecting castings, the missus likes bait fishing as well (personally I prefer lures), I assume you can buy castings in bulk from a nursery anyway.  I'll have a good look at the rootball at harvest time to try and get an idea on this, for now I'm stuck with what I started with, and experimenting is good for the learning process.  Water culture is not an option unfortunately.  I'll be upping the nutrient strength next feed now that it's been flushed by the rain.  Thanks for the input :greedy:

Hi mate, I recently had a good learning experience with Marist auto grow. Strains were sweet seeds fast bud and biodiesel mass. From 4 plants I yielded just over 10 ounces, which I consider pretty good growing during summer etc.

My advice is in regard to the moisture content of your medium. I'm pretty certain mine could have done with less waters my roots weren't that pure white you see from the top growers and I could only put it down to overwatering. I watered every 3-4 days usually, but this was inside under lights in plastic pots.

I pumped mine full of nutes all the way through with little to no leaf burn. But did encounter a pretty serious case of magnesium deficiency through flower. This severely affected one plant where the others I managed to pull them back in line with doses of cal-mag. I didn't go the Epsom salt route as it pushed my ex through the roof and I still wanted a bit of nitrogen at that stage too, which the cal-mag has.

Interestingly, they all flowered at different times. One was a bonsai looking thing for most of the grow that ended up going crazy and yielding 2 oz. and another didn't flower until 3-4 weeks after the rest when they should've flowered all at once. Not sure why, but the result was fantastic.

I also utilised a fair bit of the pinch and bend prior to flower which worked a treat giving several tops.

Good luck....smoke was good too.

Thanks Ferret, would love to take the moisture content on board but this is a bit of a concern for me at the moment.  We haven't been getting bucketed with huge rain events like the north coast and QLD, but we have been getting enough, and regularly, that the soil aint gettin to dry out.  The mature plants are loving it, but I'm fairly convinced these babies are being held back a little.  Thankfully they've stayed healthy so far but I'd love to have a bit more control.  Also means that in order to feed I'm sorta adding to the problem.  Will certainly keep it in mind when times are drier.

Also got some liquid Eco Dolomite with added Cal Mag, with the intention to use occassionally as a preventitive.

Not feeling quite brave enough to venture into the pinch and bend yet, though I have been looking into how to do it, maybe next season, and probably on a photoperiod plant 1st.

Was going to give up on this post now that I'm feeling a bit more on top of things with these babies.  Will be continuing to update on their progress in my grow journal though.

Thanks again
