i think you are wrong. the age limit is not about age alone, you have to be seen to be trying to attract people who are of legal age. not the ten year old next door..

the same as porn sites if you dont look to be doing the right thing moraly then my friend the site will be busted. porn sites know that half the lookers are under-age but they cover their arses by making you click their disclaimer saying you are 18.

age limit is a plain and simply a safety net for the site owner. i realy think that if you think you are old enough to enter this site then you should be responsible enough to stick to the rules or at least say you are 18. if every one keeps posting that "hey im only 14 " then all you are doing is helping the boys in blue to close this site down.

out of respect to the ppl that keep this site going just say your 18 and shut up about it

I think the main problems with maturity [and sensibility and responsibility inherent] within minors are relevent to the individual. There are smart kids, there are dumb kids. The dumb kids are louder, and give off a bad stereotype. For all the stupid westie kids that take a hit from their cousin's bong and make a post in all caps, there could be 3 or more quiet kids, sitting in the shadows and learning how to be responsible.

There are reasons the justice system works on a case by case basis and not on the definition of the crime committed. I think that's how the age, maturity, and [legal or otherwise] responsibility issues could be handled on these [and other] forums.. not by the technicalities of the person's situation, but by the content of their character. I'm pretty sure MLK didn't have weed in mind when he made his point, but the lessons still apply.

There may still be schools out there that aren't teaching their kids properly about drugs, sex, driving, etc... It's your legal responsiblity to cover your ass as much as possible. What about moral responsibility?

Cutting this post short [Any other points would derail into rambling], I guess my tl;dr is... Treat the posters based on the content of their posts. There's no way you can efficiently enforce this rule, it's not a trademark, and you aren't obligated to go out on witchhunts for the lurkers. So basically, Don't Ask, Don't Tell. Don't ask the suspicious entities their personal info, and then you're not forced to deny another lost teen what could be their only conduit to information. Remember... they made the effort to come here and try to learn.

In the end, it's your decision. But remember how it felt to be fighting for your rights and freedom, for this exact same subject. You thought your cause was justified... what's to say their pursuit of knowledge and understanding isn't?

[P.S... Sorry, LoveMeBucket]

People should then seriously consider the implications to this and other websites, (none of which AFAIK have an open age policy) should those who are under 18 choose to use this site and openly proclaim it.

If someone wants to make an educational site for teenagers to come and learn the truth about Pot, and how to grow it, that's their right and perogative, but that's not what this place is about. Any site or forum which did that would be asking for trouble, more than you would ever imagine coming down on a site like this with an explicit 18+ policy.

Just my opinion mind you, but I'm going to follow the guidelines on this one, as this has always been an R18+ forum.

Unfourtunatly this topic is not up for debate, the age limit is in place and we are not going to change that

You have to understand that most of the sites on the net that end up having issues with officials are the ones that parent's or schools complain about..

anyone that makes it clear that they are under 18 is always going to be removed from here, nothing against younger people but it's just not worth the hassel of having an all ages site

 wow- this topic is still going on..and on..!

good points from everyone..but , personally, one thing i like about this site..is that, in some kind of way..i have contact with others who like to smoke weed, grow weed, but whom also have responsibilities that are adult..

when ur under 18...rarely do u have kids, rent to pay/morgages to pay/, bills to pay and jobs/careers to uphold(I said rarely!!!!!!! personally, I left home really young at 14..and have had all cept 4 the kid thing since then..and the kid thing since I was 21..so NO OFFENCE is meant to be taken here!), and I like that others..who have these responsibilities, still choose to live their lives with M.J.It makes me feel a little stronger in times of weakness(i.e family and general public pressure mainly) to live my life the way others do...without weed.

I guess what I am getting at is the general misconception that all ppl that use Mj...or other drugs for that matter, are losers that have no .life apart from their chosen drug, and are incapable of living a fufilled life..

ppl under 18...well, because of these general lack of responsibilities.., their lives generallly are on a different track from those over 18(tho obviously NOT always..) so, personally, I like that this site is for ppl's over 18

its not that I don't like or not respect ppl under 18, as many ppl have raised, there r smart kids, an dumb kids...just the same as adults.i guess- for me, as a mum, I would feel a bit weird knowing in retrospect that I had helped an under 18 person grow weed.My main issue with this is that as far as I know...its the adults in the home that end up being charged if their caught, so unless these under 18's are ok about this, then I would feel weird myself about this..

anyways..enough rambling...just thought I would add this..

BY the way..since ppl seem to be announcing their ages!!!! I am 26!!!!!!!!

yeh sorry i started this thread and i didn't word the poll very well.

YES means no age limit

No means there should be age limit

lol B) :) ... :toke:

Um ... I think I choose No. It is better for the cause for this to be an adult based site. ;)

Altho ... I think If I was posting here when I was 15 I would have been a lot more "coherent".Plus All the info from things I'd read at the time would still be fresh in my mind. :peace:

Oh well.

lol

Bye Now

Budman ... Out. (Still cursing Intermenet connection for taking 6 hours to come good again :toke: )

An old thread, but an interesting and important issue. Lots of good comments, especially from pipeman (Aug 25 2004, 04:21 PM), greenacres (Aug 25 2004, 05:37 PM), and LukeSkyWalker (Aug 25 2004, 11:59 PM).

Minors should not be taking any legal or illegal recreational drugs. The neurological system doesn't finishing developing until at least late teens.

However, the reality is that minors often use drugs of all sorts, I did (from 16 years onward), and I certainly agree that they should be able to get honest info about safely using drugs. But openly talking to them about it on a site like this, let alone encouraging them, is very unwise for everyone concerned, it is just asking for serious legal trouble.

You gotta pick your battles carefully, and this site is already running close to the legal boundaries. I think the only realistic option is to keep this a strictly R18+ only site. Anyone who is found to be underage should be promptly banned, for their sake as well as ours.

If Oz Stoners ever change their policy and allow minors to access the site, I will immediately close my account here and never even visit again.
