Return of the Jedi...

Recommended Posts

Thanks for the compliments guys...

@pipe, yeah, I like that shot too, although it's none too clear when blown up... It's been my personal profile pic for a while... Got a very dark feel to it, neh? Anyone who's got some good shots of Luke in battle I'd appreciate links to as well, I can't find too much... :(

Anyway, as to the grow... I have to get my carbon filter going soon, and I seem to recall that another member was making them... not just for themselves either, they were making them for some other members? Or am I mistaken here?:(

The point is, I need to get one made and I'd love it if someone could give me some advice and tips on construction... you all know my grow details, and if you can't find them in this thread then just ask and I can be more specific... I already have a goodly supply of carbon, although this is half spent, it can be reactivated to some degree by basking in the sun for a few days, or at least I have been informed as such... a lot of the carbon is returned to the place I recieved it from way before it's effective usefullness is gone, so carbon isn't an issue. :D I have some good insulation/packing material as well, it's former govt. insulation and I've used this to help with the sound from the fan by wrapping the duct from the extraction fan with it... It's a lot more porus than fibreglass insulation, and a lot softer too, I'll post a pic if anyone needs more details. This stuff will serve as the packing material separating the carbon from the inner core in the filter.

So, all I need is a tall laundry basket and a length of aluminium screen as the center core, and a couple connectors for the entry and exit points... I've read the overgrow thread on the subject, and this is where I'm getting my basic knowledge of the requirements for this project, but if I'm missing anything I'd appreciate it if it could be brought to my attention. It doesn't have to be a big filter, I don't have much space and only a 400w grow, but I'd like to make one which is efficient enough to remove all the odour from the grow. :(

Any advice and tips on the subject would be most welcome, and I thank all contributions to the project in advance... ;)

Okay, I guess it's been long enough for another update...

Here's the first shot, this is the canopy on the left... Jimmy. :D This is now 14 days 12/12. :) Sorry about the brightness of the light, it would appear my camera isn't up to scratch when it comes to shots close to the light, even with sunny's in front... Most shots have been taken with a 28w cf I've set up for that purpose, but these were taken with the hps going... sorry... ;)

Okay, now we've got a shot of the intake I've devised, it's using the cover from the new extraction fan, and has the old 120mm computer style fan as the intake assist... there is plenty of room for air to be brought through via this and the other intake, a 150mm opening on the other side of the room...

note: you can also see the 19mm line which brings fresh, ph adjusted, (5.0 or so, about 5 points below the nute res) water from the feeder tank to the nute tank.
