First Time Grow / First Time Issue

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

On my first time grow and have 3 recently germinated seedlings (Afghan Kush).

Currently running them under 2 18w growlux tubes and have them in a propagation container. Have been spraying them twice a day lightly with Rhizotonic (5mL / Litre) and have started them on 18/6 yesterday. Lighting is sitting just above the container.

Is it normal for the seed leaves to droop like this and if not how can I rectify the issue before it gets out of hand?

Cheers in advance

R8

the next leafs will be ya 1st true leafs

personally i wouldnt be foliaring em untill they are on like 3rd leaf

atm as they so young alot of the food the require is in them cotelydons and the ebryo sack that came from the seed

as long as they arent overwatered id let em do there thing themselfs

remember sometimes too much love is often bad

id be keepin g them in a container with some glad wrap or a proper humidity dome

as they will lov u more if u give em a comfy home

beware of stem rot and dampening off though

all the best

Thanks Bil,

I have them in a dome at the moment. I'll keep the lights off for awhile longer then. As for over watering I only put in the 50ml of Rhizotonic/water before I planted the seeds. Ive just been giving them a light spray twice a day. But might hold off on that aswell for a few days

Agree with Bill lol

Seedling looks fine.

As for overwatering, the good thing with rockwool is that it is very hard to overwater, as its designed to let plenty of oxygen throughout the roots all the time. Just keep them wet and dont have them sitting in big 'pools'/ or emerged in liquid.

Don't change the light hours. 18/6 is fine. and as billo said stop foilar feeding (ie. spraying them) you will cause mold. They are way to young atm. Just leave them alone and let them do their thing. There is enough food in the cotyledons to grow a small root system and the first 2 true leaves.

Apparently Afghan Kush is a killer smoke, this will be an interesting grow.

With the Rhizotonic, as Bill said, I wouldn't be spraying them for a while now.

I would just put maybe 2ml/L in with the water mix the cubes are in.

No veg nutes yet.

I found from my own experience using Rhizotonic as a spray,

at full strength (5mL /1L) even when the plants are in full veg Cycle,

twice a day can often cause the Rhizo to build up on the leaves.

It damaged some leaves quite badly but I ceased using it and didn't have any problems after.

I think its best to just use it at full strength in the nutriant solution,

during the first couple weeks of the vegetative cycle.

Good luck buddy

Only my opinion, but I think you would have loads more success raising seeds in a quality seed raising mix then going from there, unless you want to keep it solely hydro.

This is not to say what you are doing is wrong. As the others said there are just certain things that you need to watch at this critical stage of the plants life especially when trying to raise seeds in rockwool cubes.

So as I said before it's not a wrong or a bad method as heaps of peeps raise seeds in rockwool, just a little more tedious.

Good luck with all your grows m8.
