My new cloning box

Recommended Posts

Yeah,

If you could build the entire growroom from leggo that would be really sumthin...You might even qualify for the guiness book of records...lol...how cool...

Luke,

Then remove the clone by immersing the whole netpot and clone in a bucket, the expanded clay should just float away gently, no damage to the roots!

I'd like to use standard sized netpots if I could so the whole process from clone to full vege only involves moving the netpot...

I think in the clone netpot the clay should be put in so there are one or two levels of balls, then put in the clone and the rest of the clay to support clone (with the base of the clone on top of the second level of clay balls).. water level would be around the first level of clay balls...with bubbler underneath..anyone think that would work??

Good thinkin... The reason I suggested the smaller netpots to larger ones is if you have a large garden and need the space in your cloning area, but yeah, your idea would work too.... Probably better for the small personal use growers.... lol

And tom, what about a hand-drill? That would help reduce shattering, wouldn't it? :o Or even a soldering iron may be able to melt an appropriate sized hole in the two blocks....? I had heaps of hand-me-down leggo as a kid, love the stuff.... I think that this leggo cloning support idea could go far....

OK people, checkout my cheapo leggo cloner! lol

The holes in the lid are 9mm. I stuck down a leggo piece on one side of the holes with some silicon, then obviously just connect on the other pieces to create the "hole" No drilling through the leggo required!

The airstones are being kept in place by a spot of silicon at each end. Notice the air lines coming in above the water line.

It can hold 24 clones, which is more than enough for my requirements.

here you can see the bubblers in action. They don't fill out the container with bubbles like in my smaller round containers, but it doesn't matter as long as you're getting good water droplet coverage on the underside of the lid, which I did. (Can't see it clearly in the pic, but it is there)

btw, I now keep the lid covering the box. Not clamped shut, just sitting there loose. Temps still remain about 26-30 and humidity around 70-85%.

the other reason I chose one large tub instead of two small ones is that it has room to stick a water heater in there, if I find that is a necessity.

hey pipeman, your a funny guy....about the cloner, maybe it should be black...so the net roots don't get any light...oh yeah I wouldn't worry about that fan...just take the lid off every now an then to check em...when you get bumps where the roots will come out they usually root in about 1-2 days after that...they tend to shoot out so don't let them grow too long..

Me too! I want one! lol

Well done pipeman, this is turning into a real winner of a clone box.... Another idea for ya is not to stick the lego on its side, but get the flat, thin pieces of lego, maybe an 6 or 8 bumb single line piece (did that make sense?) and stick these on with silicon, in the shape of a square to surround a clone hole (about the size of a 50c coin) on the lid of the aerocloner.... Then using the standard brick, place them so they overlap the hole and hold the clone in place.... This way you could adjust the size of the hole depending on specific clone shape, and removing the leggo will be easy and yet it will remain sturdy.... :o What do you think? It's kind of hard to describe, but once I get my MS paint prog to convert my scribbles into jpg, (I still can't do it, why not? See my thread, "My outdoor Garden" for exactly what's happening....) then I may be able to show you better..... Keep it up mate, this could revolutionize quick and easy clone production!
