Anyone use bonsai wire for training?

 

I used it for outdoor plants with much success, would shape the branches out and spiralling so as to form a platform of leaves similar to scrog but more elegant. Ah, those were the days Had to allow some looseness so branches wouldn't get strangled.

Yeah, provided you don't strangle em it's fine. It is copper though, and if it's wetted and water drains down into a hydroponic system you might find a copper overdose issue, but you can certainly use wire to train.

 

My preference is for yo-yos (nie-co-rols). Great tools.

Hi Guys,

I use bonzai wire too and it's handy and convenient. Mine is aluminum with a copper colored coating on it...some sort of anodization I suppose. And it comes in a variety of guages too. Another Banzai product that's useful is the bonzai shears. I bought a long handles pair that's strong enough for harvesting medium size plants but delicate enough that you can manicure with it. I have some bonzai pots too but I haven't actually used them yet. I was going to use them with bonzai-ed mother plants but I'm worried that with the small volume, I'll have to water daily.
