ventilation questions

hey all im new to this so would really appreciate so advice. Im planning on using a grow tent 1m x 1m x 1.8m (mainly so i can pack it up if need be), i'll be using a 400w HPS for lighting and am planning on using 120mm Sunon fans for the inlet and outlet. The fans are rated at 30L/second. Will this be enough ventilation?

 

Also, how much of a smell will 2 plants produce? is it necessary to get an ozone generator to keep the smell down? or should i not worry about it. Cost is a little bit of an issue as im a student (hence the idea to grow my weed rather than buy it )

 

Im really hoping for some tips so please don't hold back.

Those sort of fans will be a waste of time as an exhaust.

Look at centrifugals 150mm plus or if you must a inline axial 200mm plus.

 

You will be the best judge of whether you need a carbon filter/ozone etc and it will vary with what strain you grow.

i agree those sunon fan are useless for this situation with the tents i havent grown in one but if using a single fan u might need to look into a centrifugal as it needs enough power to open the flaps for fresh air if u use two fans u will get away with axle fans one for the inlet one for the outlet

ok cool thanks for the help. I can get my hands on a second hand 250mm centrifugal fan so i think i'll use that. if is use the centrifugal fan to extract air from the tent will i still need a fan for the intake? or will the centrifugal fan move enough air?

i had a 250mm centrifugal fan and it fuckin hauled ass you might find it will move more air than u need infact it might suck so hard on the grow tent it might pull it apart u will also need reducers for the ducting as the grow tents only have 150mm inlet/outlets?

yeah i figured that would happen so ive decided to use my cupboard instead. Im thinking ill put the cupboard in my tin garden shed, so that way i can cut a few holes in the shed wall, one for air coming in and one for air going out which i will then connect with ducting to the cupboard. I know garden sheds get hot over summer but i figure since its a big old thick cupboard with plenty of air flowing through it shouldn't heat up too much. Or am i wrong? Take a look at my diagram, its pretty rough but it will give you an idea of what im thinking.

Or a fanspeed controller and just wind down the speed of the 250. You'll be better off with too much than too little, you can restrict a fan but you can't make it put out more.
