Google Earth. The end is nigh

Recommended Posts

You can download much higher resolution maps of many places via some universities and other sites then overlay them onto google earth. Find them yourself & don't spread the links too widely or they will end up being removed from public areas.

Anyways, Big-Brother & his little helpers have way better quality data & tools than G.E., but don't seem to be using them as efficiently as they could. Maybe they have other priorities, or maybe too many of them are just mindless idiots who joined the ranks to get back at those who picked on them at school... (more common than you'd think - so much for psychological profiling of recruits)

forget satellites that read the visible light spectrum. At uni we learnt to use satellite images that scan terrain for wave lengths of light in the infra red, far red and ultra violet spectrum's. This technology can be used to highlight a specific plant type across an area half the size of victoria with the click of a mouse button and a little techno no know. Its do do with each plants unique spectral signature. Not to worry though this technology is only used to estimate food crop sizes and such. for example i had to find the area of victoria under pine plantation. This could be used for weed but for your crop to register a single pixel on the screen it would have to be greater that 25 x 25 m or 625m^2 hahahahaha pretty big crop. And we would need "training data" to find the "unique spectral signiture of weed.

alternatively the same camera on the plane only needs 1x1m of weed and the spectral signature.
