People tell me that medical marijuana would be a better replacement for many other more harmful drugs But if this was allowed to be controlled by pharmaceutical companies and doctors, would marijuana then become another thing that gets manipulated I wouldn't mind hearing what other people think of this, it has been running around in my head for a while

The National Cannabis Prevention and Information Centre (NCPIC) is conducting a study on the strategies people use to quit cannabis. We are looking for people who smoked cannabis regularly (more than once a week) for at least a year, but haven’t used any cannabis in the last year OR people who currently smoke cannabis more than once a week and have made at least one unsuccessful attempt to quit. As compensation for your time, you will receive a $20 gift voucher. If you are 18 or older and have access to the Internet, please contact Sally or Desiree on Quitters@med.unsw.edu.au Thanks, Sally

The West Australian 24 November 2008 Scientists have found a way to release the pain-relieving potential of one of the same proteins in the body activated by marijuana, according to a study released on Sunday. In experiments on mice, researchers found a chemical that prevents a naturally occurring enzyme from blocking this cannabinoid receptor, called 2-arachidonoylgylcerol, or 2-AG. Once the enzyme, known as MAGL, is deactivated, the protein is more effective in dampening pain, say the team, led by Benjamin Cravatt of the Scripps Research Institute in La Jolla, California. The complex human cannabinoid system is thought to hold great potential for the control o…

Great teamwork Growing Marijuana With Government Approval A Conversation With Mahmoud A. Elsohly By CLAUDIA DREIFUS Published: December 22, 2008 http://www.nytimes.com/2008/12/23/health/2...tml?ref=science Q. WHAT EXACTLY DOES THE MARIJUANA PROJECT DO? A. Though cannabis had been used by man for thousands of years, it wasn’t until 1964 that the actual chemical structure of the active ingredient, tetrahydrocannabinol — THC — was determined. That stimulated new research on the plant. At this laboratory, which began in 1968, we often investigate marijuana’s chemistry. We also have a farm where we grow cannabis for federally approved researchers. Our material is …

Does anyone have experience using cannabis to help IBD (Crohn's or Ulcerative Colitis)? Did you find it to be beneficial? I've read some mixed statements from various people, but I'm just after opinions basically.

I'm not sure whether to be scared or comforted after reading this. http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/728121 So lets break this down rationally. Despite the scaremongering in the opening paragrah, which you can guarantee those in areas such as politics, law enforcement and the media will latch on to.... and Well fuck me, sort of doesn't sound that scary once you get into the crux of it. Which begs the question, why wasn't THAT the focus of the article in the first place? And aside from that, there is nothing to explain exactly what they mean by psychotic symptons. It all sounds very scary, but once the cold hard facts are digested, this really says not…

Hi All, Just curious what everyone elses short term memory is like? I started smoking about 2 years ago, i'm 27 now and my short term memory is absolutely shocking, I cannot remember anyones names straight after i meet them, this is especially painful with work colleagues, i have to call everyone 'mate' for the first few weeks then their names usually sink in. My problem is weed is the only thing that i really look forward to, it makes me happy, lets me unwind, but this is all coming at a high price with what it's doing to my memory. I've always had a terrible memory, but it seems to have been getting worse after i've started smoking, now i don't know if that's be…

Hi all, Been doing deep breathing exercises as part of my therapy, but something clicked in my head, happens sometimes, and i thought about when you smoke, whether it's j, billy or vapourise etc so on and so forth. Anyway when we take a hit of MJ, we first exhale to clear our lungs, we then do deep inhale for the MJ, we hold it for a few seconds, or more ,and then slowly exhale, then we let the smoke just float around in our head for a few seconds, then breathe again. Soon feel relaxed too after a few minutes of doing this. This is deep breathing therapy.. Anyway told my theory to my doc and she nearly PHSL, she's never considered that before. Also after years of pra…
