A while ago, a member here grew a sensational grow of Heavy Duty Fruity. About half way through (or later into the grow?) he changed the direction the bulb was in and spoke of the amazing difference it made immediately to how many flowers were being put on every day. He was hanging a HPS bulb vertically , and then changed to horizontal. I'm using mine horizontal and will continue to, but seeing as my grows have always been pretty much had the floor space of a square, I never considered which way the light emitted in so far as the direction the bulb pointed. I'm currently growing (still setting up) into a small room about 1400mm x 800mm. I'm using a 1Kwatt light, so I…

I was wondering If anyone uses light movers here. ATM I run 2 x 600w hps in the flower room but have room to extend and add 2 more. Would I be better using light movers instead?

hey guys, You may remember me before with my cupboard grow i have a 1m x 500mm cupboard with 2 x 18w grolux lights, humitidy crib and heat mat and 2 fans out intake one outake, i believe they were the 150MM ones. After not getting anywhere too quickly with the 2 x 18w grolux however all seeds were sprouting, i have moved to a 400w HPS which will take them straight into veg. Problem is all the seeds are turning brown before they even come out im using a clonex solution to wet the rockwool blocks and the light is on 18/6 Any suggestions? or what other information you would need?

I've been wondering how many degrees above the ambient temp. other peoples boxes run at? At the moment mine is about 10-15 above ambient, but could be improved without too much fuss (I hope)

Just tested a 400W hps I had lent to a friend (it's quite old), and it (the ballast) just makes a loud buzzing noise. Is this something I could fix myself, or am I better off buying a new one ($80 with free bulb)?

Hi all love these forums and all the great info you guys/gals provide Just a few questions a friend has a cabinet that is 125cms H x 70cms W x 45 cms D , so thats about 3 square feet of growing space he reckons he could fit a 250watt HPS in there with a cool tube and a few fans. He wanted to know with the cool tubes obviously you have the fans blowing cool air in yeah? would an inline do the job ok? Also if the cool tube is getting an active intake with ducting should he also have an active out-take with ducting and carbon filter? was thinking it would be good to have active in at the bottom and out at top with heat rising, but with the cool tube both might have to b…

Hello. I have built a PC grow case but there's still a few things I want to do before I call it complete. I want to be able to adjust the fan speed which is apparently done with a potentiometer. So exactly what size/spec potentiometer do I need? The fan is 12v 0.3A, and my 12v adaptor is 1.25A if that matters. Once I get that, I gather I just wire it in to the red wire on the fan and I'm good to go, yeah? How low will it let me slow it to? And will it allow me to crank it any higher than the normal? Sorta off that topic a bit, but would it be just as simple a wiring job to rig up some sort of thermostat jobby so the fan speeds would be controlled by the temp? Or maybe…

I decided to go for a china hat with vertical bulb over the adjusta-wing cause of it's superior light spread. The downside of this was the extra heat. So this is my cooler. This is a china hat which i have cleaned, scuffed up and glued with contact adhesive The china hat metal gets real hot, adding to the heat in the growroom so I'm gluing down 10mm flameproof insulation, shinyside down offcourse. Insulation is now glued down and air extraction holes are drilled'

Hi, I have a cupboard of these dimensions: 800 X 530 X 1700 with an extra attachment of 750 X 390 X 60. I have installed a 400W HPS lamp with bat-wing reflectors. A 150mm exhaust vent running to a inline Axial Allvent fan with a 150mm X 600mm odur sok attatchment. When I switched on the lamp at first it was 24.6 C and 79% RH. Now after 1 hour and 10 minutes it is 41.5 C and 68% RH. The cupboard is located in the laundry. There is no external ventilation apart from the normal exhaust fan which is directly above where the odor sok is suspended. I am thinking the 400 W is too much. That 41.5 is with both the cupboard doors and the laundry door open with an osc fa…

I'm curious on lighting, alot of people seem to use 18/6 veg 12/12 for flower, I was wondering if there are any advanteges to using say 24/0 for veg and 18/6 for flower. This provides a shorter lights on period than in veg but is it enough to trigger flower of do you need more than 6 hours dark? I was thinking that if you could do that no probs, would the buds grow bigger than on 12/12 as they have 6 hours more light each day or have I got something totally wrong here? Slightly off topic but I read a paper written buy some canadian guy about marijuana potency and in it it states that high UV radiation exposure causes plants to increse trichome production inturn increasin…
