Use a 600W Ballast on 400W light?

I have a JB ballast which says its designed for 600 watt light.. I was wondering if I am able to use the ballast on a 400 watt light.. will it damage the light ?

I wouldent do it as there is a few things that could wrong.

 

U could turn it on and it will explode from to much power going through it, or it will burn very bright for x amount of time then die, they are the 2 that come to mind strait off, but u can bet ya life there is other ways that make it a no no...

you risk dying in your sleep using the wrong equipment to grow pot, well that is provided your system runs of a night time

 

just buy a new 600w globe. 600's whoop 400w lights
