Hemp ice cream anyone? Dr Keith Bolton sees the production of industrial hemp as a potential boon for Australian farmers wanting to get out of the cotton or sugar cane industry. http://www.echonews.com/pictures/13_11/sm_fp_100_1559.JPGHe said hemp can be commercially viable on land lots as small as five hectares if the plant is used not only for its fibre, but also as a food source. He said hemp seed contains no THC at all (the component in cannabis which creates “a high”) and can be used to make hemp milk, hemp tofu and hemp ice cream. The plant also has a high yield, with two tonnes of seed produced per hectare. “Humans have been eating hemp for at least 8000 years o…

http://www.nzherald.co.nz/section/1/story....jectid=10427931 "A woman who called Napier police this morning to report a burglary became so upset she broke down in tears - although the police communications officer who took the initial call couldn't stop smiling. The call left senior sergeant Mal Lochrie shaking his head as he explained that the woman had called to report the theft of three marijuana plants which she had growing in pots outside." I'd prolly be crying too.

War on drugs failing: ex-judge FORMER royal commissioner and inaugural National Crime Authority chairman Don Stewart says attempts to deal with the growing illicit drug problem through traditional law enforcement methods have failed. The retired judge, who headed a royal commission into drug trafficking in Australia in the 1980s, says illegal drug use should be treated as a public health issue. "I have slowly come around to the point where I believe the handling of it in a criminal way is never going to work," Mr Stewart told The Weekend Australian. "Punitive measures will not work. We can't go on the way we are." In a book to be published next week, Mr Stewart say…

(except for alcohol which we sometimes consume on air. The kiddies can see that if they want to. It's okay, it's different!)" David Koch went in to bat for the prohibitionists yesterday (Monday) on 7's Sunrise when he applauded the results of this new study which shows that pot is now "uncool" amongst Australia's youth and that the government funded "education program" in schools is working. I recorded their interview with Paul Dillon of the National Drug and Alcohol Research Centre. Just…

From Skynews Headlines http://www.skynews.com.au/story.asp?id=155196 I'll see if I can find which report Mr Pyne is reefering to this time. I'll also see what I can find about the correlating rise in Amphetamine based drug use, and if there is also an increase in binge drinking (after all, alcohol is harmless enough that it doesn't even need warning labels according to Mr Pyne) http://www.theage.com.au/news/national/you...9775997111.html
