A substance found in the cannabis plant helps the body’s natural protective system clear dry, scaly skin rashes caused by allergic dermatitis, according to researchers from the U.S., Germany, Israel, Italy and Switzerland. Allergic dermatitis commonly causes acne-like rashes on the cheeks, eyelids and neck, as well as on areas of the elbow and the back of knees. Prolonged episodes can lead to facial wrinkles, thickening of the skin and facial pigmentation. The problem begins in youth and can continue through adulthood. Allergic contact dermatitis affects about 5 percent of men and 11 percent of women in industrialized countries, according to an article published in th…

Did anyone else get the 'Talking with your kids about drugs' propaganda? I do not disagree with helping out parents with dealing with drug use by the their children... but the fact that this slip by under everyone's noses is disgusting. Boasting figures over a billion dollars in fighting the drug trade and comparing figures such as the rise of cannabis convictions vs the amount of ice users (weird how as more people are charged for soft drugs the hard drug rates rise...). Reading it, it appears to be more anti-illicit drug propaganda to fuel the election (of course I knew this as soon as I say the side that said 'drugs and young people an important message from the prim…

Just passing this on from another List serve I'm on... Fabulous news for those afflicted! Love and stuff, Alison xx FYI Colleagues, A just published study appearing in the September 5th edition of the Journal of Neuroscience adds to the growing body of evidence that cannabinoids may halt the progression of certain neurodegenerative diseases, such as Alzheimer's, ALS, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's. High prices From Economist.com THE costliest place in the world to get high is Japan, according to the United Nations Office of Drugs and Crime's annual World Drug Report. The street price of a gram of cannabis weed was $58.30 in 2005, over twice as much as in the next most expensive nation, Australia. Americans pay nearly twice as much as Canadians. Similar disparities occur in Europe. Although the Netherlands is the only Western country where cannabis can be bought legally, punters pay more there than in Germany or France. Prices are cheapest in developing countries, where enforcement is less strict. Author: The Economist Date:Sep 12th 2007 Source: h…

This is our latest in Canada. Please be aware. Alison xx NEWS New dosage limits for medical marijuana: But where's the science? Pauline Comeau Ottawa, Canada New evidence-based guidelines are urgently needed to help doctors negotiate Canada's hazy medical marijuana landscape, particularly in light of Health Canada's efforts to impose new dose limits, say the nation's leading cannabis researcher and doctors who have been queried about their marijuana authorizations. Canada should also re-establish a formal process for developing responsible dosing strategies, says Mark Ware of McGill's University Health Centre, the sole researcher funded under the now def…

In a follow-up operation the same afternoon, police went to a nearby house and arrested a 22-year-old man. Two cannabis plants, 154cm and 180cm tall, were seized from his backyard. The Advanced Nutients Medical Forum has closed apparently. Advanced Nutrients has SHUT DOWN the Advanced Nutrients Medical Website and Medical Forum. http://www.advancednutrientsmedical.ca/ We started this website only for Canadians who had federal government licenses to grow or possess medical marijuana. The Canadian government has been chipping away at the licensing program, and Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper has stated he is going to end the program next year. We were being criticized by hydroponics retailers and others who accused us of running a website that was possibly used by people engaging in illegal activity in violation of the user agreement that…

A Japanese prison is scrambling to eradicate marijuana plants that keep sprouting up on its exercise ground, officials said. The marijuana plants started sprouting at Abashiri Prison on Japan's northernmost island of Hokkaido about a year ago, said prison official Takeshi Okamura. He said officials plucked out as many as 300 marijuana plants and treated the ground last year, but several more sprouted again this year. Prisoners reported them to the guards. Officials believe the plants are wild. "Apparently, somebody knew how to tell marijuana from other plants," Okamura said. Local botanical experts concluded the marijuana seeds were inadvertently brought in with…
