Source: www.news.com.au I feel so bad for that guy, he gets busted with a little over a half ounce and under 3g of hash and they are considering killing him why cant the indonesian's simply deport all the foriegners on the basis they'll be prosecuted when they get home? it would make them look a hell of alot better to the rest of the world and it will still send a strong message that drugs wont be tolerated

What's Inside: Nyquil, Fortified With Powerful Narcotics! 2007-10-23 >> news category >> general Source: wired.com Acetaminophen One of the many wonder-pharmaceuticals that can be derived from coal tar, acetaminophen was used for nearly a century as a painkiller and fever reducer before anyone figured out how it worked. We now know that as the drug breaks down in the body, it turns into a cannabinoid: yes, stoners, the same type of compound that makes marijuana so irresistible. Doctors also once thought acetaminophen made users more talkative and outgoing. Current research suggests this idea was half-baked. Dextromethorphan HBr A cough suppress…

Ali plucks a sprig of the cannabis sativa plant and sniffs its distinctive leaves with appreciation. This Lebanese farmer's field of marijuana, a splash of bright green on the sun-baked plains of eastern Lebanon's Bekaa Valley, will yield around 33 pounds of cannabis resin, or hashish, which he will sell for about $10,000, many times more than he could hope to earn from legitimate crops and for almost no work at all. "All I have to do is throw the seeds on the ground, add a little water, and that's it," says Ali, who spoke on the condition that his full name was not used. "I would be crazy not to grow [marijuana]." It has been a bumper year for marijuana cultivation …

RISING dependence on cannabis is the driver behind a Wodonga program to help users quit the drug. The first session of Cautious with Cannabis will be run at Wodonga’s Upper Hume Community Health Service on November 12 at 6pm. Service rural outreach diversion worker, Nick Bannon, said about 300,000 Australians used cannabis each day. Mr Bannon said there is no specific usage figures available for the North East. “But the number of cannabis users is always growing. It’s growing on a daily basis,” he said. Cautious with Cannabis is aimed just as squarely at family and friends as cannabis users. “It explains exactly what cannabis is and how it is used, the effects…

Does anyone think high profile people who get busted could be recruited to campaign the cause against prohibition in general? If there were enough of them it might start to have an effect. Lot's of Michelle (what's her name?_got busted with e in Bali) might be nice. Gotta take support from the mainstream media. BTW... did anyone see that US. Presidential Candidate Ron Paul called for an end to the War on Drugs?....clever man. I wish we had someone with the balls he's got.

Here's more hate from the USA. Why do stories, even in high brow rags like The Economist, always focus on the supply side of Cannabis ? There wouldn't be a supply side without demand. What kind of economic reportage is this anyways ?? Home-grown Oct 18th 2007 | CHINO HILLS From The Economist print edition Forget wine—California's biggest crop is bright green and funny-smelling SUBURBS don't come much tidier than Chino Hills, 30 miles (50 km) east of downtown Los Angeles. Last year, the neighbourhood of coffee-coloured stucco houses and three-car garages boasted an average household income twice that of the nation as a whole. In Vista del Sol, one of its quiet enclav…

A woman who accepted a package from a garda dressed as a postman has been found not guilty of possessing cannabis for sale or supply. Judge Patrick McCartan said that the evidence in the case had been "tampered with". Ncedisannani Swana, of Castleview Walk, Swords, Co Dublin, was acquitted on day two of her trial at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court following legal argument in the absence of the jury. The case concerned the delivery of a package from South Africa and addressed to a "Mr Barry Gorman" at her address. Prosecuting solicitor, Garret Baker, said that Ms Swana accepted and signed for it when it was delivered by Detective Garda Willie Armstrong who impersonat…

http://news.ninemsn.com.au/article.aspx?id=258445 Top UK cop says legalize all drugs Monday Oct 15 21:02 AEST One of Britain's most senior police officers is set to call for the legalization of all drugs. Chief Constable of North Wales Richard Brunstrom said drugs, including heroin and cocaine, should be legalized in a shift away from a failed UK policy based on "prohibition", The Independent newspaper reported. "If policy on drugs is in future to be pragmatic not moralistic, driven by ethics not dogma, then the current prohibitionist stance will have to be swept away as both unworkable and immoral," Brunstrom was quoted as saying in the newspaper. Brunstrom said …

In recent times stories have done the rounds of super-strength cannabis or skunk that can be up to 20 or 30 times more potent than it was a decade ago. New research released in the UK last week suggests that although there does appear to be a small rise in potency, there is little evidence that super-strength skunk is dominating the market. Two studies analysed nearly 550 samples of so-called skunk seized by the police. Both concluded that the average content of the main psychoactive agent in skunk strains of cannabis, THC, has doubled from seven percent in 1995 to 14 percent in 2005, contradicting recent claims that most of the skunk on sale in Britain now routinely ha…

The destructive impact of cannabis on indigenous communities was rammed home to Coroner Alastair Hope yesterday as he was confronted with more proof of the squalor endured by Aboriginal communities in the Kimberley. A young Aboriginal man living in a remote community in the Fitzroy Valley told Mr Hope he had been admitted to Graylands Hospital twice because of heavy cannabis use. Kelvin Gordon, 26, said many young people in his community of Yiyili, 180km east of Fitzroy Crossing, smoked the drug. He said he had spent a month in Graylands psychiatric hospital but no longer used cannabis. Mr Hope spent the day visiting indigenous communities on the outskirts of Fitzroy …

Research from Otago University's long-running Christchurch Health and Development study released yesterday showed 25-year-olds more commonly drove while under the influence of cannabis than alcohol. The Otago University figures supported Environmental Science and Research (ESR) data published by The Press this week which gave the first glimpse of the huge problem of…

MPP Update #29 The Federal War on Marijuana Becomes a War on Children 2007-09-10 >> legal category >> MPP Update By Dan Bernath Automatic weapons. Check. Helicopters. Check. Dogs. Check. Bulletproof vests. Check. You may not buy the government's characterization of its campaign against medical marijuana patients as a "war on drugs," but increasingly violent, militaristic tactics in recent months offer a troubling glimpse into the federal law enforcement community's mentality: To them, this is war. Raids on medical marijuana dispensaries throughout California July 17 by federal Drug Enforcement Administration agents, often with local law en…
