How to ask psychiatrist for cannabis prescription

Chrystal

Question

I have been seeing a psychiatrist for 11 years this february i'm abit of a head case main problem is schitzophrania, major depression i have been on highest doses of antipsychotic and anti depressants for around 10 of those years

Now about 1 year ago my treating dr reduced my medication 1/4th the dose and around 5 6 months later i went off the rails like a absolute lunatic so me dr bumped up the medication again

Now looking at research on the medications in long term use they should be stopped after 10 years this is probably why the dr was reducing my medication, the medication has left me feeling motionless, unmotivated, find it hard to show effection and love new people to my life

The anti depressants are pretty much a root around they have done nothing for me

I have a appointment coming up and i think i am going to ask the dr if i can go onto the legal weed he will likely say no but what are some questions i should ask or tell him

Is there anything in particular i should mention?

Heaps of research later. 1 conclusion because of all the different types of marijuana its impossible to be sure of anything. Each type seems to contain same core ingredients but in varying amounts. Also black market verses own grown may contain other drugs that cause harm. Grow and test yourself only safe way

Chrystal,

Why not experiment with a very high/very low cbd:thc strain? Find out for yourself how it works. I agree with others, no doctor wants the be the first in a court case if things go wrong for you and it’s blamed on a pot prescription.

I know you may feel like your at whits end sometimes/too much of the time, but find out for yourself rather than trying to rely on a backwards system.yes, professionals can help but if your at that stage where you feel your going nowhere then take a step on your own. CBD helped me through something major in my life and with no side affects if it doesn’t work, you’ve nothing to loose.

Yeah i don't have Bipolar, I have Paranoia, Schizophrenia, OCD, Major Depression, Anxiety Depression is a big problem for me and has been since my teenage years i am on 300mg a day Effexor which is fucking huge dose that is just to treat the depression which is does nothing really i am also on a huge dose for the paranoia and schizophrenia this medication has zombied me out but i guess i am stuck on it now as i tried to reduce it 1/4th the dose and i started getting really angry and aggressive

i will try some CBD strains but ordering beans isnt easy unless i pay a lot with bitcoin i will check some out soon

anxiety has pretty much been controlled with the legal medication but still get a little bit at times

"....anxiety has pretty much been controlled with the legal medication but still get a little bit at times...."

Not that my situation has been anxiety related (Well, not this time anyway), my situation is pain related. Canna has helped me reduce my intake of the pharma meds, but not eliminate.

Personally I believe any reduction in pharmas is a HUGE plus as I'm not totally reliant on the pharma chemicals. My gp is aware of my canna use and in his opinion "Use what works", but the specialists are staunchly against any 'non approved' medications. But as I've stated before many times "...I have to manage for me, not them..." Fuck'em IMO. Why should I be the one contributing to their pharma co. sponsored annual holidays as they use me as a guinea pig.

There are better Doctors than Dr Google and you are probably providing incorrect information - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_bipolar_disorder_and_schizophrenia for example. There's an intermediate disorder but orthodox psychiatry has distinct DSM5 categories and one is primarily a fluctuating mood disorder (bipolar) vs a more psychotic, chronic pattern in schizophrenia.
