All very interesting, and I'm looking forward to seeing what comes up over the next few months. Always noticed differences with seeds, but never gave any thought to distinctive patterns and such, and as for colour, I've only ever thought of that as a rough guide to seed maturity.

Have also become curious lately about the way leaf shape can change throughout the life cycle of the plant.

I would have started taking some pics to post later but I've already germinated, so might have to leave it for another time.

One issue I do have is to do with size, and a lesser extent colour. To keep it simple I'll stick to one landrace strain I've grown. Got some beans for a landrace Thai Sativa, grew them, collected pollen, dusted a bud, blah blah. Seeds I ended up with were obviously larger than the originals, and of a darker colour. Colour I put down to me taking more time to allow fuller maturation than a commercial concern would want to take, so that's easy. But size???? This is a landrace pure sativa, with stable phenotype expression, and both parents from the same batch of seeds showed the same plant structure and leaf shape. So I'm struggling to see how that size difference fits in with your theory? Not saying you're wrong, just this doesn't seem to fit, or maybe I'm misunderstanding something? Interested to hear your take on it.

I think I've still got both original and newer seeds in my stash, if so I'll take some pics next time I dig them up. Might even be able to find a pic of one of the mature leaves to go with it.

:peace:

Thanks for your input ...there is no rights or wrongs ...just hoping for an open topic discussion ....i will be the first to say i could be wrong ...

Just in your circumstance. .

I would say the differences are ....different male pollen than from the father of the original seeds ...

And also size can be related to the care you give the girl .

I could have two orange trees identical and look after one slightly more and get bigger fruit and slightly bigger seed ...but still they are identical ...in theory.

Environmental factors play a big role in size...colour i think your right. ..as colour can vary even on one plant.

And timing of harvest

This is an intriguing and interesting idea Cardrona... I got inspired and took some photos before popping some seeds this week, then came back to see if they meet the requirements for the Catalogue and find the thread is now 12 pages long!!!

Sorry I've not time to go back over it all, can you please tell me if these pics are what you're looking for in terms of the seeds (the leaf shots will have to wait for a bit lol)?

I found it surprisingly tricky to get good, clear shots of all the different angles of the seeds.... Not made any easier by the fact I can't see through the camera lens with my glasses on and I can't see the seeds with my glasses off lol lol lol

The drop of water you can see on the seed is because I got carried away and accidentally sowed half of them before remembering I was planning to take pics for the Seed ID Catalogue - another perfect stoner moment lol lol lol

Couple of seeds here but no leaf shots unfortunately. Both sets of seeds are from the same Strain female (Bros. Grimm C99), but crossed with a different male. Notice the different colouring and slight pattern change on the shells.
