hydro help

Recommended Posts

basically you use clay balls in a flood and drain type arrangement, where the pot is filled up with water on a timer like 15 mins every 2 hours. The clay balls dont hold any nutrients, or water.

Perlite is more often used in a soil as a conditioner or it can be used alone but it also doesnt hold alot of moisture.

Really we need to more than you have a pot, is it a hydro pot(dutch) or a standard gardening pot?

Have a good read through our faq area or indoors area. most of the info is here you just need to search a bit for it.

If you can spare a bit more time telling us what lighting, pumps, timers etc you have then we can help more.

You can make a passive intake.. what fans have you got on the exhaust? I dont even use intake fans, no need. Get a good exhaust fan and you will have no problems. The 250W Osram light sounds like a heat lamp or something, dont use it unless its a proper metal halide or HPS.. you will just waste your time.

Like Nath said, exhaust is more important than inlet fans.

I use inlet fans on one unit and passive vents on another.

I would use your fans one as exhaust and one as inlet or both as exhaust.

Reason being that the plant needs more than air it needs the co2 in the air.

250 light could be anything, whats written on it?

It is all pretty faded i can only make out 250w and osram thats no problem i am getting a 400w son t with metal glass reflector  and i just reversed the wiring on the fans to exhuast  also how often do you add more nutes i am using sensi grow 2 part formular have you heard anything about it

If the 250w light your talking about has no remote ballast.. then its useless. Its a heat lamp from what I can remember, Osram dont make hydro lights, they make kitchen and bathroom heatlamps and household globe products. I dont think they even make fluoros. Get the 400w and your grow will be alot better.. Im finding the 400ws to be too small now even too :D 1kW here I come!

Hey Nath,

osram do make grow lights, and some HPS dont have a remote ballast. they are built in to the reflector etc.

I will try and find something to show ya.

I wouldnt go with a 1000, 2 600s would be better coverage.
