fan help

Recommended Posts

Hey guys

the $20~ fans from hardware shops are good for short term, but as noticed, they tend to die quickly, and they really dont move that much air...

there are $90 mistral fans from bunnings, they move *heaps* of air, however arent good in working in a vacuum (ie if you dont have an intake and the fan has to both suck air into the enclosure as well as get rid of it)...these can be overkill in a small closet though, so if you decide to use them, use a speed controller...having a hole in the closet for intake is usually enough...

250mm industrial fans start around the $250 price, they move lots of air and are more than sufficient to suck air into a room. dont use these in a closet...theyre way too powerful...not to mention noisy...

Carbofil turbofans are probably the best in a vacuum...they sometimes dont move as much air as the industrial fans or the mistral, but they have the momentum to really suck a huge volume of air into the enclosure....they do however use twice as much electricity to run... (~100 watts as opposed to ~50)

hope this helps!

The 12cm sunons you are referring to here are able to move about as much air as the 250mm bathroom exhausts. Just no guts to the cheap option.

Get yourself a good fan rated to remove the entire volume of your space within 5 minutes, under 1 minute is better. There is no such thing as too much ventilation when it comes to small spaces and growing plants indoors. lol

You will spend the money eventually anyway, and I wouldn't hold out for the warranty to hold, as it's not designed for the use your putting it to. :D

Get a good exhaust fan, and have several passive inlets. If you have an active inlet, it will pay to have a couple of passives as well to reduce any potential wear on the smaller fan.
