If you want a nice computer type fan, go to ebay.com.au and search in the computers section.. but dont go to fans, they sell all them crappy import shitty fans there. Go to the section where it says "Networking and Accessories" or something like that, and then click into the servers section, or the misc' section under that networking section.. there should be some there, I have two 92cm server fans from an old HP server I have here, was thinking as using them for intake fans.. my pc is on 24/7 so i could use that as my power supply lol I have a 200mm Ringgrip fan for the exhaust, 12 months warranty, $26 cant go wrong :D Continously rated fans are better though I guess.

The one you want is a "Sunon" they're pretty standard 4inch computer fan - about 45 bucks. If you can get to a hydro store they will have them.

I checked on mine and its a Sunon so they seem to be the thing. ;)

One thing though is they have a detachable plug, So make sure that it is included, as you can buy the fans without it(where I got mine from anyways.)

They actually are pretty damn poweful for the size of them,

Nath- I made the same mistake as you, with using cheap fans. I also brought the cheap fans from bunnings.

But the cheap ones are shit mate, They dont suck fuck all (I reakon the Sunon would suck more(like my Mrs :;): )). and mine only lasted 1 1/2 grows, they shit themselves halfway through the grow, and thats a pain in the ass especially if the light stays on and you dont realise the fans are not working.

not to mention the fire risks, but im a paranoid C*** when it comes to fires.

lol :D

Hey Ferengi, the Bunnings fan has a 12 month warranty, so it will do in that room where I have the plants. I had a look, and Im going to get another 400w or maybe 600w light from the Hydrocentre.com.au ? Site.. anyway.. I have about 1m x 2m in which im working with.. more if i need. Ive got a big flood table here thats 1m x 1m and im going to grow the 'Cannanet' challenge plants on it.. Then all the good plants I really like I'll put under that corner light in a 30cm pot... or to the side of that table. Heres an image of how many plants I plan on having (Black dots) and the lights are yellow circles. I have the three tubs in the corner setup at the moment with a 400w light on them. The diagram is definately not to scale..

But if its 3' x 6' (1m x 2m) then ill have 18sq ft? Then, 2x 400w = 800w /18 = 44.4W Per sq/ft

And 400w + 600w = 1kW, then 1000w / 18 = 55.5

Now alot of people will say go the 600w, but power-wise, 1kW running constantly might be a bit much.. unless I grow, then harvest then grow again, not running a continuous supply of MJ.. but I guess enough yield will come from the first grow.. Im hoping to have about 20+ plants and 800-1kW's. Just need to work out one more light and the plants and im all set.

I run no fan in there at the moment, and just leave the door slightly open.. during the day its completely open, and the temps arent even over the 30's in there.. its awesome nearly perfect temp... and its a dry environment, not terribly humid, which im going to start misting the plants with some Nitrozyme soon to increase humidity. Its freezing where I live, I think just the position and location of the house, and the old venting methods this house has. But the grow room is nearly full sealed. Heaps of cool air goes in under the door.

But yea, the pc fans are really powerful. Im thinking about also making a veg area with on of the lights in my bedroom, and flower in the other room with the other light.. but still not sure. Ebay has the cheapest fans though, but most are 12v.

Nath unless you have at least an exhaust fan, your not giving the plant enough CO2, and your also not removed the old air.

Temps is just one issue, but yea the cheap fan will work but Its also a HUGE hole for the amont of air the fan sucks.

But hey do what works mate. lol

computer fans for an inlet fan works well I run cpmputer fans for my incubator exhaust and inlet fans ( don't need near the power as you do with MJ) you can wire them to run off of a battery or even use an old pc power supply strong server fans tend to plug directly into the power supply rater than off the motherboard you could run up to 7 fans with any standard power supply

you should be carefull of those bunnings fans most are not contiually rated and you can get a celing hydro fan for the same price lol they can also spit greese ect as they whear out

The fans that Nath are talking about are ball bearing continous rated fans, they also have a protection thing that cuts the fan out if it starts overheating.

But I was just amazed that they had fuckall suction, I reakon my little sunon fan would suck more than the huge 250mm bunnings fans.

I put oner of them in my bathroom and you cant even hear the thing running.
