Anyone with using Marijuana to relieve Migraines?

Boohiss

Question

Hello

I've suffered from migraines for about thirty years and nothing i've tried cures it.

So does anyone here have actual experience of using MJ to relieve Migraines? If yes what is your advise re dosage, type e.g. More THC, CBN etc or anything relevant.

I must admit to being a bit of a sceptic re medical MJ, my experience with MJ is that it tends to increase how you're feeling e.g feeling happy then you'll be very happy, feeling sad then you'll feel very sad etc

Any comments from people that's actually tried this will be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi mate, I suggest you try some heavy hitting indicas to relieve migraines. Is it icepick headaches you get?

They most definable have a very relaxed, couch lock feeling.  There is many strains out there to suit pain.

I haven't tried high cbd strains but heard alot about them.

CBD CREW on some seed breeding sites is what your after. CBD CREWS "critical mass" 1:1 ratio of thc to CBD.

Id just like to put out there on a medical note my ex women had severe migraines all her life.. She ended up getting tested by having a spinaltap and removing some fluid.. She ended up having too much fluid in her brain .. She had to have a shunt put in her head that drains fluid on a computerised drip,  and now is migraine free.. Getting the balance of fluid in the brain right..

That might be worth a look at.  Hope you find relief...

Hey there Boohiss,

As a fellow sufferer of 'headpain' I understand your need. Now I say headpain rather than migraine as it seems everybody's headpain is different from a niggle in the temple to a full blown nausiating, audio and photo sensitive attack. The 'full blown attack' is what I get. I explain my 'headpain' as somebody shooting a bolt from the back of my skull out thru my eyeball. I say headpain cos for years (20+) I was told everything from growing pains to hypocondria.  For me I now know why and have a cause for my pain, I have a nasty growing in my head and about 2 mth ago I had a shunt, like smok was talking about, inserted in my brain to relieve the fluid pressure. But for me the growth is still there blocking the natural fluid flow, its just a bit close to the bits I need for it to be safely removed. The growth is very slow growing, where as you produce about 500-600ml of fluid each day if that fluid can't get out of your head, basically, you're dead, hence the shunt. The pressure of this fluid within the skull is very important and again smok says about 'a computerised drip' or an adjustable valve to regulate the pressure.

For me canna has been a lifesaver and I truely mean that. Over the years I have been on that many different medications from pain relievers to psych drugs, 'cos to be having those sort of pains you must be crazy'. Ive been on migraine treatments. Tablets to regulate blood flow to the brain, meds to regulate electrical signals within the brain. At one point I had to quit my job, due to the intense pain " that I wasn't having "  .............." and was all in my head" . Pain is very subjective, recently I was asked to give my pain a rating out of 10. I'm laying on a bed in the fetal position, clutching my head and I tell this nurse '20'  'no, out of 10' she says. "Take your worse pain ever and multiply it" I yelled at her (Seems I'm not a nice patient, so my wife tells me. I disagree. Don't be asking me stupid bloody questions when you can see) others cannot feel your pain and a sore arm effects your arm, a sore head effects everything. And although this may seem selfish I am telling this from my headpain.

For me canna is not a pain relief, I still need an opiate, but canna allows me to function without thinking of nothing but pain and without out being spaced out of my mind on high dose endone. I'm certainly not saying that it is the key, not at all. What I'm saying is that it works for me.

Hope it helps

@Boohiss Sorry to hear about your migraines mate.
have always relied on MJ for my nausea.

When I do suffer migraines ( only once every 1-2months, could be more if I'm stressed ) I tend to use
natural remedies. Icebags with lavender scent, eucalyptus etc

Failing that a fat blunt helps.

@Merl1n Fuu- mate sure hope all is better with the shunt.
My pins and needles feels like I'm about to have a stroke. Truely shit times.

Too much fluid huh.. I was advised by a medico that day-to-day preventatives were the best option.
Fu*king pills. Its all they seem to offer.

Sorry I couldn't be anymore help.
All the best
Peace and blaze one!
Red

Psilocybe mushrooms! Watched a doco on hallucinogenic mushrooms, in it was a section on sufferers of cluster headaches in the states, one day of tripping in return for six months free of headaches. Just thought I had better mention this, I found it very surprising.

Oh, the way this one person administered his dose, he dried the mushrooms, powdered them and filled capsules with the powder, one to two caps, depending on severity of most recent headache. This one particular person was not a rec user of any substance, did not enjoy using the mushrooms, but was willing to give up one day if it meant being headache free for six months, and no, modern medicine did not help his condition. If I can remember the title of the doco, I will return to post it for you guys:-)

quality post merl, I still speak to my EX and sometimes She has good and bad days. Somedays shes ok. somedays shes really sick in bed with headspins and nausea...

I took her when she was first trying to distinquish what was wrong with her.. that spinal tap is horrifying. I could barely watch.. Her first OP was ok but was draining too much fluid thats when she went back and got the regulartor computer.. She also mentioned they removed some of her spine to put the computer in and she said she was in horrific pain when she awoke from surgery

As far as I know she is doing well now but is very reluctant to try medical MJ, her mothers a nurse and everyone is very bias against the use of it.

Shes on effexor to stablize her mood, Endone 5mg for when the pain is really bad... But apart from that now she is good.

On the side note with the endone.. I have to take it sometimes due to pain im getting from my double groin hernia. Just waiting for surgery. Im not sure if im hypersensitive to it but just one tablet rocks my world, 5MG . Its some power, powerful shit to me. Maybe I'm just hypersensitive.  What dose were you on?? I Probly should tell my doctor that Im not really tolerent to the morphine but then again I don't want to cut myself short incase im in pain.. :unknw:

Hope your doin ok

Peace smoky

Hey smok,

Endone aint just powerful shit for you, I can assure you. I need a bed with endone, even just one, and the highest dose I will take is 2 or 10mg. I have to be in unmanagable pain to be taking 10mg (which of late has been regularly). I fully understand your concern about cutting yourself short, I have told medicos before not to administer and as it turned out I paid dearly for that. So this time I didnt say anything, but they gave me subcut morphine and I lost it completely, I cant remember anything. These nurses came to me the next day and asked if I remembered my behaviour the night before, to which I said no. Seems they had to call security, this shocked the shit out of me. "I did WHAT??"  I couldnt remember  anything. They tell me I should get a MedicAlert bracelet stating Im allergic to Morph, which I'm going to do. There are other suitable meds other than morphine and even if they do send me to sleep I don't care. Just kill the bloody pain.

Hi all,

If I were to describe my 'head pain' it's more of a severe pulsing behind the eyes into my forehead. Light becomes almost unbearable and sound seems to multiply ten fold. I believe it stems from sinus issues I've always battled with. I feel for you all with migraines that sound a lot worse than mine, cause mine are enough to be completely debilitating, but doesn't sound as bad as above. No one understands. Nothing worse than having it come on at work and watch your colleagues make the faces when you say you're going home due to a migraine.

To be perfectly honest I don't feel as though MJ helps in my case directly with the pain. How it helps is I may have a couple big cones, a stiff Jack Daniels, then it's nighty nights. Sleep is the only thing that helps me when it comes and MJ is a sure fire way to get there if I smoke enough. I used to smoke dealer weed so had no idea what strain it was etc, but in this regard it didn't matter as if I smoked enough I'd fall asleep.

I've just grown some Biodiesel Mass specifically for the CBD content which works well, though probably could've been better had I grown it better or given more time to cure. I'm taking a break currently which is giving my weed some time to cure and make it better also.

Good luck to anyone out there with migraine issues, I feel for you.

Sorry to hear that dave like me and merlin were discussing earlier its very debilitatiing stuff.. The more people I speak to the more I hear about fluid in the brain... I thought it was quite rare but I'm hearing all too common now.. you should suggest the shunt to her. Hope all goes well mate
