Get a dog. Chain him up next to your plants. A cat will do. They shouldn't roam at night anyway as they are lethal fucking killing machines. My last cat killed about a dozen possums before he was even fully grown. Lil bastard. I used to rush the poor victims to the RSPCA and more often than not they were beyond saving. Possums hate cats and dogs. As soon as they see one its straight up a Tree and no coming down till its gone.

The only problem with a dog or cat is that they might get a little agricultural in your plot as well. Maybe just scattering some turds around will repell them. Doing that and pissing around them like Tom said worked for me against roos in a bush grow years ago.

Good point. You would want to chain them near the grow but not on top of it. They don't have to stand over the plants to protect them. A possum wont come within 50 yards of a dog on open ground.
