The home insulation isnt exactly the same as astro foil. The bubble backed insulation is the same if you have ever seen the bubblebacked astro foil sold thru hydro shops it is the same thing. One side is astro foil one side is white foam. Its not light proof even if doubled over but reflects like nothing else. I know its sold at hardware house etc by the roll.

 

Tom- does the foil have woven string seams into it about 3cm big?. If so it is insulation foil just not the high temp stuff.

 

joedave- that foil once scratch is useless and really noisy when moved about. Maybe if affixed to wood or walls

i was reading OG and it said that some gift wrappers have a shiney side to them and that it is a very good subsitute for mylar.

 

Anybody try it?

I was only helping the poor guy out, I have no interest in mylar, my method is just plain flat white paint does the job just fine
