G'day Glenn. Don't cut 'em. Bend 'em at 90 degrees until they kink not break, a callus will form in a short while, they will grow up strait again so you dont lose the big fat cola. I've done it today with my tallest and have more that will need it. I did it last year and out of about 30 branches I only lost 1.

I did cut the top third off the plant, about a week ago. However it has move than compensated for it already because I have lower branches now spanning about one and half metres from the plant which I'm having to support with stakes.

It's now manageable, I suppose.

Can anyone advise as to what will happen when it starts flowering with regards to the smell. I have no history with planting and I never took that into account when I planted it because it's situated less than five metres away from the next door neighbours outdoor decking where they usually hang out during weekends.

A guy at work has suggested using a garlic / soap mixture to spray on the plant when it gets going but I've been searching for something along those lines and I can't find it referenced anywhere?
