A disaster- a mistake

Recommended Posts

The other day I was having some problems since recently PH down has been released with a child safety lock but to incorporate this requirement, the bottles no longer have the "dripper" on the top.. I have been told some people are now just drilling in the lid, but I tried adding the "dripping" lid from an older bottle of PH down.

When I was filling my tank solution, the lid came off, and the solution poured straight into the tank for a second or two.. I didn't think it was that much, I shook the tank for 2-3 minutes, and then checked the PH and the meter said it was fine.

The next day I was a little suss, so I checked the secondary tank (the main tank is pumped into the secondary tank which pumps into the plants).. So I check the PH in the tank:

2.5 PH...

I freaked out, the plant had been water 3 times with this mixture of highly acidic water.

Thankfully I just flushed before this mixture was pumped into the plants and flushed again after I realized what has happened.

Its been about 48 hours and so far the plant looks totally fine. It is a VERY, VERY large SCROG plant under a 1000w globe, in the first week of flower.

I realize if the roots are damaged it may take more time before nutrititional problems become evident on the plants, but so far its looking like I may have got away with it.

I have learned some lessons from what happened and adapted my practices to make sure it doesn't happen again.

Anybody ever experienced anything like this?

id be flushing straight away

then id be feeding nutesin the ph parameters

i reckon u wills ee a bit of drama from such an acidic mix

also wat i do with my ph down is

i have a 2 ltr bottle i add the ph down to that

therefore diluted

i then add this dilute mix to my nutes to get where i want ph

i think adding undiluted ph down and up isnt very good

thats the way iw as taught to use ph down

just a thought

all the best

A mate had similar... fed his plants pH up and down instead of nutrients for 5 days... (hand watered rockwool).

Apart from some short term stunting and weird coloration on the fan leaves, the plants were fine after a good flush.

, thats classic lou Lou =). i once mixed my nutes in a Big Jim Beam cradle Bottle and pump from it and unbeknown to me a well wishing friend filled it up with Beam for me, thinking he was doing me a favour and having thought I had left the bottle in the kitchen full of 'Tea', I watered them for 4 days before he came around and asked me if i drank it all yet, then it clicked why my Plants were going a bit Droopy and discoloured. Lmfao.

Moral-Never leave your Nutes in the Kitchen unattended. GH72
