Review - Arizer Extreme Q vape

Recommended Posts

I have been considering a vape for a while paladin, but the volcano was too pricey for me and many others i haven't heard any decent reviews. 350 isn't that much at all really. For the benefits long term on the health and so on... Not to mention the fact that you get more from your buds using the vape compared to smoking. I think i found my tax-time pressie this year !!!

Could one create their own screen that doesn't clog ?? i haven't got much of an understanding of how it works apart from seeing the Volcano in action, wouldn't one be able to get different grades of mesh to allow for easier airflow and less clogging up ??? surely this could be done, or they would possibly sell different ones. i might go look. I don't mind cleaning it but wondering if there is a way to make it a less frequent task >.>

3 mins is more then enough warm up time to get mine @ 230c which is where I like it lol

Few tips I've worked out:

Stir between each bag or 2-3 good hits off the whip... or for best hit on the whip pack the screen just tight enough so the green don't fall out.

If your using the mini whip with bag blow the whip out as soon as you take it off the bowl it keeps alot cleaner. I have a jar with iso alcohol and 1 screen soaking then i swap them over when one gets 2 dirty. I smoke atleast 5grams b4 the screen needs a clean.

Hello, n00b alert - please be gentle ;)

I was in the market for a new vapo & the Extreme Q + it's features really got my attention...

I used to own a Volcano a couple of years ago (unfortunately i had to sell it when times were hard) & have had 3 lower end vapes since, which quite frankly, didn't cut the Mustard compared to the Volcano. After seeing the extreme q (& it's amazing price) i scoured the net for reviews, read this & a few others, then decided to take the plunge. I got the best price anywhere at the time (£190) & a week later it landed on my doorstep.

After 1 hit, I knew it was a keeper! :D

It delivers, hits & tastes exactly like the volcano, in my opinion! I like the option of a bag or tube, but the bag is always my preferred option, as it's much less hassle.

I followed your advice and warmed it up for 15 minutes first, then once the bag was on, i ran it for about 5 seconds on the lowest fan speed (Storz & Bickell recommended to warm the product up for a few seconds on the Volcano before attaching the bag, so i thought it wouldn't hurt to try it with the extreme q) then I put it straight up to the highest fan setting (3)... WOW lovely & dense Vapor & a Mammoth hit to follow! Stirring the product after the first bag is a top tip too, as is adding a further sprinkle once you've stirred. I find i get 2 good bags this way on 230 degrees :)

You do have to keep on top of things with regards to cleaning though. I am a heavy user & i reckon once a week is enough. If you're the lazy type, then don't bother buying it, cause it will rapidly lose performance if you don't clean it regularly! I got a specialised citrus bong cleaner and soaked the cyclone bowl, plus gauze & the mini whip for 10 minutes in warm water & it came up like new.

There are obviously features of the Volcano which are better than the Arizer, like a slightly stronger fan & the closed valve system - but after trying the extreme Q, i really don't think it's worth the extra £100-£200 to get a volcano. The Arizer does the job & it does it very well.

I have had people trying these that wouldn't dare smoke a bong or spliff - & love them.

10/10

Yeah I got one of these about a month ago and absolutely LOVE it!!!!

The only thing I would say is that 230 degrees celsius seems too high to me.

I've found one bag at 175, then three more at 180, 190 and 195 and most if not all the good stuff is extracted. Anything over 200 and I start to get smoke (you can tell because it's actually kinda harsh instead of like warmed air).

Also if it's a really humid day (like 90% humidity) I have to go for a much lower temp, and generally can't get up as high without getting smoke. (Not sure why)

I should mention that I tried the higher temps many times, but I reckon I actually get more (and better quality) vapour at the lower temps.

Could be my gear though I guess, it's usually very well cured (but not scuffy).

@ Jonx:

I am used to bongs, so a tickly 230 degree hit is still silky smooth compared to one of those ;)

You're right though, it could be your gear, as bone dry stuff doesn't give off half the density that fresh stuff does. The user manual actually says its better to use slightly moist stuff.

Happy Vaping :)

Well, as you may have read a few posts ago, I have owned one of these for a few months now and I feel I am able to make some accurate comments about it.

I am an everyday bong smoker, and I bought this to try and enjoy my herb without as many health side-effects. I settled on this model because it was able to many different kinds of delivery, so I could experiment and learn.

I have really enjoyed it. I have found that 3 minutes is plenty of time, and then its ready to go. If i want to get fucked up in a hurry, I just load the glass cyclone bowl about 1/2 full, and start puffing. I start at about 215C and work my way up to 235C over many, tokes and I stir every couple of hits. I find that I can almost quite literally destroy myself using the whip method. The bags are pretty good as well, but I have replaced the std bag with small oven bags that I found in Coles. I find they are the perfect size for a big lungful of vapor and does not take anywhere near as long to inflate.

Whenever I come across my herb, I usually stash a tiny amount (about 0.5g) in my room for later. Whenever I am running a little low, I can sneak into my room and 'pack an elbow'. This is pretty much packing the weed directly onto the screen on the glass bit (the one connected to the tubing) and using the small whip that normally fills bags. You can get a few really good pulls, out of the tiniest amounts of weed! I have had weed that would normally go in one or 2 mixes, last me all day, coming back for an elbow every hour or so.

Ok, so the not so good stuff. I have not been able to completely replace my bong. In fact, I still use it most of the time. I find the reason for this is that I do not get the intense rush that bongs give. I have bought a bong (receiving in a few days) that will connect to the Extreme-q, so I will try this for a few weeks and Ill see if I can finally kick smoking! I also find, that because it is so good, I will just sit there and toke and toke and toke and I will go through so much weed because its so good! Unless you were going to be doing elbows most of the time, this is not an efficient vape! But as mentioned, this is because the weed tastes sooooo good and it can creep up on you.

The heat up time is a bit annoying as well. I know, that I would need it for almost any vape, but sometimes you need a quick bong. I think its a good idea to take the bowl off the unit, if you are not going to be using it for a while, so that means the glass cools down. This means that I have to sit the glass on the bowl and still wait for a little bit of heating time before I can get the best hit. Im not really complaining about the last part, its just compared to the pack-and-smoke of a bong, its just not as easy.

Overall though, Im glad I bought it. It comes out for special occasions when everyone has a bit of weed to throw around, and we just want to get messed up. I have had no operational problems with it, whatsoever. The only advice I would give someone about choosing this vape, is that if you are pretty certain that you are only going to use one particular method of delivery (eg. whip, bag or elbow etc) then you may be better off choosing a vape that ONLY does the method of delivery that you prefer. The extreme-q is pretty much a good at everything, but not great at anything kind of deal. However, if you were like me and really didn't know what kind of delivery method you want, then the Q is a great choice. It gives you a chance to try a variety of delivery methods, and is a proper high quality, well built machine.

TL:DR Great unit - Glad I bought it although the simplicity of bongs makes it hard to give up. Great unit either way, particularly for a 1st time vape buyer who isn't sure what kind of delivery method they prefer. If you know what you like in terms of delivery method, better off buying a vape that specialises in just that delivery method.
