First Grow

Recommended Posts

Gday, thought Id post up some pix and a cheers to those who've already helped me do what Im doing, too many too name TGF google.

If I pull this off OK you should be able to see some photos of an outdoor ScROG. My sitch requires that they dont get too tall.

I do have a question.

I think they have started to bud? and Ive only just tied down the branches for another "Vegging" of lower branches.

I was expecting the budding to start later? March??

In some of these pix I had only just restapped then photographed them, they are all pointing skyward now-

i really have been punishing this poor thing!

If they have started to bud I think i need to strap everything to the wire level??

Im new at this so Id appreciate any help. I think Ill get about 10 colas of this, we'll see.

The plant itself looks nice and healthy.

Stress wont induce flowering in long days, it's most likely that you are seeing preflowers rather than early budding. These are a sign that the plant has reached maturity and is ready to flower.

As DataMonkey said, the screen really needs holes large enough for the plant to grow up through during flowering. Regular chicken wire has large enough holes.

One other thing, the pot. Hate to say it, but the strawberry pot is probably the single worst choice of pot for a ganja plant. It will dry out incredibly quickly and if you need to repot you will have to smash the terracotta to get the plant out.

Sorry to come at you with so many negatives, but I think it is better you know now so you can fix the problems before flowering begins.

lou :)

excuse my ignorance..what is the screen used for? is it ust used to stabalize the plant

During vegetative growth the plant is forced to grow underneath the screen, keeping the plant short. During flowering you allow the bud shoots to grow up through the screen.

Thanks mate appreciate the comments and crit, valued advice. I thought I might be increacing the airation of the soil with the use of this pot type, overthinking it maybe.

and I might be doing to much work cheers,

Ive got two types of screen, one with smaller holes to force the top branches under as the grow continues. (prolly just over stessing it ??)

When it started to bud I was gunna get rid of the small square mesh and drop chicken wire on it, then lower the "Hutch" to the hight for the shortest banch

THEN

Tie each crown to the wire at the lowest hight.

My rational (if Ive got this right) is that the hormons will be directed equally across what the plant thinks is the Apical node, so insted of producing one crown with other buds below, it produces only Crowns.

From what I can work out- pre-emptively, is that this method DOESNT produce any more weight(maybe less), its just good if ya gotta hide what u do outdoor or you have limited space indoor.

Thanks again.

I think, therefore I Canna.

heya ITIC welcome here and good of you to share your first grow with us 'tis good :peace:

not alot i can add to the good advice already given, except to say i have found that square plastic garden netting / fencing quite good for training a plant under though it should be secured firmly to the frame cause its not as rigid as wire netting, i like the plastic 'cause it doesnt hurt the stems, but plain wire is ok too

also i have found at my lattitude of 34 degrees with unrestricted sunlight that flowering commences about 2nd - 4th week in February, this may be slightly different depending on the strain of Cannabis

all the best with it

Hi I_think_I_canna (iTiC) & welcome to OS :peace:

Love ya pot and grow style iTiC - nothing disrespectful in saying I have not come across a GD that is so practical, has all the key attributes (including LST). It's a 'Getto-Grow & SCROG to boot showing initiative, resourcefulness, and thought.

guitash the key word for you research is SCROG - (sea of green).

There is plenty of info ON THIS SITEor Google it.

iTiC - right idea. datamunky's suggestions good as larger squares would help with access (watering & trimming off excess).

I've got a Little Getto SCROG that I moved outdoors. Its only small 60x60 & 1 plant.

It's primary purpose is 'stealth' as with your solution. Did you score a all day sunny spot to boot iTiC ? I couldn't :peace:

All the best in your outdoor SCROG adventure

Grow well iTiC.

:peace:

Nitty.

Thanks, truely, luv the brief (iTiC) time I did up a SIG... where can I find the specs size etc

:peace:

yeah the stealth guriller thing is fun, ive been thinking about this long b4 I had a go.

Im not too handy with hammers and sh!te so I just looked around and see what I can use. (a stool, cool :peace: ty 4 the pic)

There has been enough of a break in the RAIN :peace: for me to finish my Demo,

Here are some more LST "experiments" sorry about the camoflage; 'tis the point I guess, "the commensal friends" Rob the total possible yeild, but its better than sharing a cell with someone who has'nt seen a woman in 20yrs lol

This is a "Radiating ground LST"- the branches train off North and south of the initial TOPPING, and the side branches run west and east, theoretically. (its actuallt very messy not too happy with my plans for her, shes fighting hard in every direction, hard to keep up with whats going. If I do well Im counting 15 decent colas on one side and half again on the Northern side (surprising)

You should be able to make out the mainstem snaking its way off on the Right hand side of the pick.there is another on the otherside, that run up to my "Lateral LST" tortured soul!! c for yourself.

Nitty: lol no unfortunately NO full sun, but I do look like a pile of badly stacked boxed :P next to nothing in particular.

Sorry Forum hog

Ill reduce the pic size next time! this is the "lateral outdoor/ground LST"

I really did run out of room AND this was an after thought I found this as a seedling after it rolled out the Kitchen Window and did a swan dive into Red earth and given NO other love.

It suffered a little as I replanted it its main stem is running East and west with the side branches running North and south (Theoretically);

This one looks heaps better, and its an orphan!
