Yellowing from the bottom up?

Recommended Posts

Hi Nooby,

2 1/2 months....................I thought the new potting mix should have been ok for a few months?

How healthy is the plant ? What size pot ?

A full plant pic would help.

So has it been out in the rain............ rain will leach out (flush out) compost nutrients in no time flat.

What type of compost .............. not 'woolies el-cheapo' as it is shit to start with.

Start at the beginning. Help us to help you.

Why don't you buy a fresh lot of good compost and simply re-pot. Easiest solution. :D

:D

Fairly large pot, I don't remember the exact size now but it'd have to be about 450mm in circumference or thereabouts. The mix was a mixture I made up with a lot of good stuff in it with searles as the main base, and the plant did seem to be growing fine until the last week or so. Will try to post a pic tomorrow, cheers.

Hi Nooby,

Nooby ...Will try to post a pic tomorrow
.............. :)

ok 45 Litre (16 inch/450mm) there abouts. Flowering pots :)

How old is the plant?

Did it start life as a seed ?

Did you "pot up" (graduate up size as plant grows)?

In what, under which conditions is it kept (indoors/outdoors/lighting/nutrients/Watering schedule atm.)

Gooluck with getting a picture !

:)

Sorry for taking so long. :(

How old is the plant?

About 90 days.

Did it start life as a seed ?

Yes

Did you "pot up" (graduate up size as plant grows)?

No. Sprouted and grown for a couple of weeks then straight into the pot.

In what, under which conditions is it kept (indoors/outdoors/lighting/nutrients/Watering schedule atm.)

Outdoors. Was watering once a week but it was also out in the rain as well. Have got it out of the rain now and watering/feeding once a week, or when soil is dry.

Here a couple of pics.

Note the yellow bottom leaves and purple stems.

Cheers

greetnz nooby

good advice from all

thanx for the pix

the reasoninz is irey too

N leaching from heavy rain

a well stressed out plant can use all its available K in 1hr

K spray will be immediate relief

a stressed plant is vonerable to insect attack too

i can see in the pix that there is some insect damage

check under the leaves

and that white fungi round the base of the main stem

just above the ground level

whip it off

also

the egg shell and bones are part of the N problem too

because when the special microbes first start to break down the uncomposted bone and egg shells, well, these microbes actually eat N so during the composting process

seen

atm

the microbes are competing for N with the plant and less N is available for the plant

thats another reason why you have a N deficiency in the pot

the immediate solution is to supplement with w high N fertz like fish emulsion

and spray with K like seaweed

to ovoid this problem

only put well composted organic matter in the pot

get yourself a worm farm

that will dowit for yah

irey guidance

tkx all.

The eggshells and chickenbones DID come from my wormfarm and are only on the top layer and not through the whole mix. :(

Have wiped off the white fungi, pretty damp here for the last week or so, and I've sprayed for bugs. Will give some seaweed and she how she fares.

Cheers

no thats for strictly organic outdoor grow

not for hydro

if your a running hydro system

the solution is

flush and start again with a fresh solution

it should have directions how and when to flush printed pon your nutrient bottles

a flush and fresh nutrient solution will fix all nutrient deficiencies for hydro

Here's an update. Since my last post I've been watering/feeding once a week but I'm not sure if it's having much of an effect? I've been using nitrosol for the first 2 weeks then phostragen last Sunday. I've also chucked a handful of dynamic lifter for roses on the top of the soil. Here's a couple more pics (sorry about the lighting). FWIW could the leaves that are yellowing and dying off simply be normal old-growth die-back as the leaves around the flowering parts look ok still?
